Dan6061
Just snapped the part of the caliper that goes into one to the 3 holes in the mounts. (The first bit you put on when installing the brake)So I need a new one, for the left hand side.Had a look about on CRC, Wiggle, etc. But not had much luck...Anyone know where I could get just that bit from? eskimo
Ring CRC and see what they say? If they can't sort you out then try Avid. How long you been running the Ultimate? Was it front or rear?

NVWOCI WVS
if you cant find one you can buy my 2008 ultimate which has been used once Edited January 27, 2008 by samdoman
djb
My first Ultimate had both sides broken and from what other people have said it seems to be a common problem and spares are nigh on impossible to get hold of. However, it is possible to replace them with bog standard Shimano ones (or probably any other 'v' brake but i've not tried other makes), you just need to not bother putting the thin silver spacer with the the hole with four little cut-outs in it back otherwise it'll seize up when you tighten the mounting bolts. If you haven't got/can't get any Shimano ones I may be able to sort you out with some. Just ask if you need 'em and i'll have a look. CurtisRider
as dan said, using an old pair of deore callipers will provide you with the bits you need-and they are uber cheap new on the deore calliper, prise off the washer, then all the internals fall out of the arm, then you are left with the part you need for your ultimate, but it also has an extra length of tube on top which you can just saw off(it acts as a bush but you have bearings of course), i did this on all my ultimates cos the original alloy internals are tripe, however my steel deore internals were always fine sorry for the shit description, but trust me, thats all you need and it will make sense once you pull it all apart
Joe Sheehan!
Im pretty sure theres a topic somewhere about ultimates and this problem and where you could get spares... :/
manuel
you can bodge it with the bit from an ordinary sd7 set .... just need to chop off the sleeve that the bushing runs on .... i just went into local muddock and they happily offered up a load of spares (as they have done a shed load of vee to disc conversions ....)
