Big Sidehops

Get someone to record you on video (Preferably with a proper video camera or something that has a decent frame rate - not a phone camera, though this might still help) and look at the move you make, comparing it to the big sidehops you see on other videos. TRA recently posted links to some fantastic HD video of him riding - this should be an excellent source of near biomechanical perfection in doing this move :)... Compare what you're doing to what he's doing.

If you know anyone who can genuinely sidehop 10 feet I'd love to see that being done :P...

Are you pushing on the pedals to lift the front wheel initially? If not you're close enough to the limit of sidehops done with the brakes full on at two feet. The timing is crucial for this all to work. I doubt if I could clear 3 feet, though I haven't devoted time specifically to high sidehops in a while, so they're a bit rusty at the limit anyway. I'm messing with sidehops starting from the back wheel and to land on the back wheel at the moment.

I managed 5 blue pallets once, and kept it on top.

That's my personal record..

I sidehop weird though, left foot forward, and up to the left... So tucking's a bit retarded. Haha.

Once you've got your own technique sorted, it's all about having the balls to go bigger, which is what I can't seem to get...

Just try and spend less time on the backwheel before you pre-load for the sidehop. When I faff about on the backwheel I get tired then mess up the rest...

So just concentrate on actually going for the sidehop. The longer you spend looking at it the scarier it'll get.

From watching videos of myself sidehopping, I go up to the front wheel, then bring the back end in to land it. I don't even realise I do it, but it seems to work...

Can't think of anything else to add really, apart from the obvious; Practise!

Why? You don't realy need to tuck much, i barely tuck at all when sidehopping, all this tucking on 3ft walls stuff is noncence, it just looks silly!

Exactly. There is no point tucking on something quite small like that? unless you are a midget hehe. I'm almost getting to the height of 6 blue chubbs pallets. ^_^ now there a need to tuck on that!

Not really... All of this tucking stuff depends on how powerful you are.

You think its completely neccesary to tuck on 6 pallets, whereas i don't.

Some people think its neccesary to tuck on a 3 foot wall, others don't.

Generally, anything over bar height i recon its ok to tuck a little bit, with more tuckage required the higher you go.
