Rusevelt
Backwards trials, something that we dont really think about because of the natural progressive nature of the sport to go forward, upward, and sideways. so im wondering if there is, or has been riders out there pushing for bigger, more progressive backward trials riding ie; backward drops, and gaps. has anyone attempted to hop backwards over a railing or wall from trackstand or backwheel? or attempted a backwards gap mid-air 180 twist to frontwheel . that would be a pretty cool new trick if you could generate enough power to twist your bike and body in mid-air, even the gap is a few feet. Dylan korba does two pretty impressive backward moves in Crux. Edited January 24, 2008 by Rusevelt
steve@banbury-trials
i've seen videos of danny mac hopping backwards of things , doing really long stoppies backwards down hills and doing rails forwards then backwards .check out his videos on you tube or buy extended family dvd steve
Tamness™
Ive seen Danny Mac do stoppies backwards down rocks which looks seriously silly (in a good way). I think quite a few people try and ride backwards as a sort of 'show piece'.
Tommy d
The great thing about backwards riding is you can play it in reverse and it looks like spacky forwards riding.I made this just to see if it would work a couple of summers ago:http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...920358398904080And here's Gilly last Sunday with some backwards hoppage:http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...604693460295590 Edited January 22, 2008 by Tommy d
Janson
it's hard. i tried going over a few pallets backwards... awkward.also did 180 gap and tried to do another gap straight after and completing the 360. nearly had it but was off by a few inches. Dan6061
Surely the first thingwe all learnt was backhops? That'll do for me... I was gapping some upside-down pallets the other week just messing about, then started backhop-gapping them...was fun.See people do it on rail gaps too. esfrost
I had a firend who was trying to jump onto curbs and stuff when he was hopping on the front wheel.... it was funny!
Pagie
Funnily enough ive been trying to interpret some backwards riding into my riding style recently... like fakie then go to backwheel on stuff, would be good to see this taken on though! Jsy Ben
I've given the idea some thought too, well not alot but i've got a few aims and "backwards" riding clips for a new vid;(idea taken from Ali C/Danny Mac) rail to rail to rail....etc then back hop rail to rail to rail etcor rail to rail then 180 back to the last rail (so your facing the opposite way you came) and gap forwards to the next and finish the line or 180 again to face you the way you came (180 to 180 backwards could turn alittle hairy after the first 180 though...)on a drop (not sure how high i can push it yet) face the drop as normal then 180 so your backs to the drop and either drop backwards into fakey or 180 in the air to land facing normally again (problem is dropping to fakey, if your too vertical you instinctively lock the brake sending smashing backwards either to you outstretched arms or worse - head, but i guess if you dont lock the brake this would just happen anyway, soooooo risky move all in all lol)180 gap (keeping it on the back wheel) to quick 180 landing front wheel first jamming the front brake, wheelswap down to rear wheel and gap (backhop) back over the gap (depending on how big the gap is, to backwards manual?!)and not really a backwards move but, pushing the 90 gap to front wheel alittle alot further, 540 to front wheel? I imagine the momentium of the spinning wouldn't give you the best of landing though Enywho those are my ideas for tonight done.

_Owen.
I can do, and enjoy doing small gaps backwards Only a maximum of about 4 foot, but is still fun, as you cant tell wether your going to land on the obsticle your trying to, or totally miss it and break your neck
Rusevelt
I was forcing julien (trashzen) do backwards rail gaps two years ago - you lot are so last season.Yeah Julien and Danny Mac seem to be the main two uk riders doing backward or reversed moves. would like to see someone tackle natural or hop up on something from the backwheel.
