The Stig
hi just want some advice, what is the best bottom bracket? isis or square taper??ISIS all the way, square round off alot easier although they are cheaper. Go for ISIS if you can afford it Tom
Pashley26
Alot of people will say ISIS are better because more of the Crank is in contact with the BB so it'll be Stiffer, But i'm pretty sure Square taper will have more of a Selection of Cranks (i think.)Really there much of a muchness, i ride External.JArrod Edited January 21, 2008 by Pashley26

vinny.p
Personally i think isis are the best and i never had a problem with the try-all isis bottom bracket, and ill probably get corrected if im wrong but im pretty sure their one of the lighest aswell. sean/pashley
isis, because ive snapped 3 square taper bb's and it really hurts to slice your leg down the sharred of piece of metal that sticks out when your crank has fallen off. Dave Anscombe
vinny..yes the try all is a super light weight bb ......not to strong mind but deffo light....id always say isis over st....as some one has already said the bb spindle has more contact with the crank arm witch offers a stiffer feeling drive terrain......and i think you will find more isis trials specific crank arms than thear is square tapperd my cranks of choice are the try all cranks....super light weight yet really strong and stiff....although the deng crank arms are pretty strong to and most of the street riders go with those. ISIS bb....id recomend a ko bikes isis bb.....dammmmmmm strong and has decent bearings that run really smooth .cant go wrong with a ko bikes bb dave x Edited January 22, 2008 by mrkoxx
squeaky
i would go square taper as that is what i run i find that it is very good and i have had no problems so far with them
Muel
Isis, I have sq on my other bike, tis OK, but Isis feels stiffer.
Adam-Griffin
I've always ran an SQ BB and never really had any problems although if i could afford it, i would go isis...
JaMmY
ISIS I would say...Square taper round off too easily..+
0zzy
ive got square taper and i feel its fine its cheaper but not that strong if i had the extra £££ i would get isis, square taper is fine to learn on though
Muel
But once you have bought a set of posh cranks and a bb, surely the £20 difference doesn't matter, just get ISIS.I only got Square Taper on my other bike because money was really tight, and I already had a BB.
