Davetrials
what was the deal with this one, way back from like 2000 or somthing, it was the only one of its kind
sjc59
I remember them as thats way back when i started riding, don't know much about them thou.
Ben Cox
it was JJ gregorowicz's crescent illions from motorama 2000, that was the original shape before it went smoother ala
Janson
indeed. i believe there were at least 2 different straight tubed ones. Gurra had one where the top tube connects with the seat tube in the same height as the seat stays. looks a bit cleaner than JJ's one in that pic.I used to have the bent toptube one. Still to this day one of the best riding frames in my opinion..
5.0 Rider
I found a picture of my Crescent from maybe 2003.
Thom
I'm also pretty sure the bianchi trials frame was just a rebadged crescent.
Janson
It was. Story was basically that cycleurope, who apparently own both bianchi and crescent (in sweden anyways) decided to brand all the high-end bikes Bianchi and leave the more low-budget bikes along with 'normal' bikes with the Crescent name.Crescent has always been the Volvo of bikes over here, very old company. Cyklist
Strange thing about Gregorowicz's bike is that it looks like it has a disc brake mount in the rear?Anyway, in -98 the first Ilions came out with an enormous bashring, yellow Selle Italia Inox plastic seat and so on. Not sure how the -99 looked, but at least the frame looked pretty much the same.In -00 the bike had a slightly longer toptube but the design was pretty much the same. The first bikes had a full orange paint scheme, but from now on they had Crescent's new racing paint scheme with black front, orange mid and titanium rear end. It also got a front disc brake. As for -01 it got a a new design with the bent top tube seen in the pic above.I think that 2003 was the last year it came with the Crescent logo but I'm not 100% sure. I do rember though that it was really expensive in 2003 though, and the Bianchis that came had the same price tag (think it was 32000 SEK wich equals about 3200 euros). Then it was sold with Bianchi paint scheme in 2004/2005 and that was the last year they made any. And if I'm not completley mistaken Martin Kleivard (who developed the orignal Ilions as their team rider and rode for Crescent/Bianchi the following years) got hold of the last few spare frames and kept riding them for a while. And you must not forget about the Crescent painted Monty mod they had, the Kile. However, the Ilions definetley was a great bike back then!Crescent actually have started to make a bit more expensive bikes now again for 2008 and reintroduced a few old models like the Gram (even though it's not a full titanium bike like it was back int he days). Unfortunatley I don't think they will come out with a trials bike again since they probably think the market for one is way to small, so they'll stick to standard bikes. But hey, you certainly can get some tuckage on this one too!
Janson
Yes, i believe Kleivard still has some frames left. He got them done up in flip paint and stuff. I have pics from a ride with him a few years ago, and there is footage of him riding comps on these. Also, the season before it became a bianchi, kleivard had some kind of transition paint job. same way as the bianchi (white middle, coloured rear and front end) but orange instead of teal. it was easily the most beautiful paint job for the ilions.the ilions did cost 32000, quite a bit.. the mod was 15000, which was fun because the same x-lite was a few thousand kronor cheaper. Janson
That bianchi belongs to Mika Mäkinen. Finnish guy. I bought a CF mini seat and some other cf things from him, back in the day.Kleivard had the one with straight top tube, square down tube and completely orange in evolve. Alec
That's a crescent under the bianchi paint job though. I remember seeing that and trying to get our bianchi agent to hook me up! I also remember wanting a crescent when JJ had one, that was a mint looking bike.

MadsP
the danish champ from 98-01 rode nothing else. www.rivold.dk -> biketrial small pictures yeah those bikes were extraordinary!! I remember the 'elite' in denmark rode them with ti spokes, dura ace rear mechs, carbon bars, cnc xtr bashrings and gold rohloff chains. that was SO extraordinary back in the days. vincents drilled boxx actually reminds me of the crescent-golden-age... its pushing the limit, has a nice paint job and is pretty extraordinary. btw janson: remember kleivards coustellier with gold hubs and his carbon chain tensioner!? so so hawt! edit: oh yeah, and his green/white with the rock shox sidehop sus fork for smoother riding! so dece Edited February 18, 2008 by MadsP
