Tomm
This is one factor which I was pondering last week.http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=144871
future orange 660
lol at people on a tech forum telling people to oet put moreits a good observation thoughalthough the size of the clickwheel they can change. im sure the body is as small as they can get it, if that makes sense.quite interesting though how many things are supposed to be designed around the concept Edited January 17, 2008 by future orange
RR_Trials
http://www.gadgetreview.com/2006/03/apple’...hidden-gem.htmlisn't it amazing how much effort goes into the design
Davetrials
thanks for your help but its still not what im looking for.Ive watched every single keynote speech and he mentions nothing about the inspiration to make it the shape it isdarn it
future orange 660
it mentioned simplicity with emphasis on user interface. apple products have a distinctive design style across the range. clean lines, radii, simplicity. as for the stainless bit. functionality of being protective and polished for aesthetics as personal scratching. just say inspiration was parallel products. Matthew62
The guy who designed the aesthetics/layout of it... Jason something, a british guy did an interview for a TV show that was called something like ''Product of the Year'' or ''Design of the year'' and that was probably 2003/2004/2005. Its not a great idea to write on a subject you have very little knowledge in, trials-forum seems an unusual place to come to. You're being very vague when you say 'inspriation for why they designed it the way they did' you could elaborate on that, do you mean aesthetics, ergonomics, anthropometrics..... perhaps then you might get some more helpful responses.Better yet...... why don't you just contact Apple ,then you'll have first hand primary research as opposed to bullshit web pages. future orange 660
johnthon ives is the man you meansomeone has already mentioned his name or a link.he is the british design engineer at apple, working on projects from old imacs right through to the iphone, an beyond it seems now. anyway he clearly just wants a block of text to copy and paste. future orange 660
there have been 7 links which could be used. all good. the last one explains more. just read them all.
JonMack
I guess the only reason it's the shape it is is because they wanted to fit a hard drive inside the smallest enclosure they could, and hard drives are rectangular, so a small rectangular enclosure was the easiest way to do it. future orange 660
yeh. did u read that last one?i though it was pretty good.mentions layering of components to make it thinneralot or marketing stuf though how it uses off the shelf components. fair play.. kind of reinvented the apple brand tooand about the shape.. thats why the nano is smaller and differently shaped as it uses a flash drive rather than hard drive in larger models Edited January 19, 2008 by future orange
