anzo
Could be one of many things...1. Clean the disc. My guess is AOE3 is a few years old, probably had some wear and tear?2. What version of Windows are you running? If its Vista, the game may not be compatiable; usually there are patches to sort this out.3. Is the game CD-ROM based or DVD based...they're all pretty much DVD based now, are you sure your laptop has a DVD drive?Test the disc on someone elses computer; this will tell you if its a disc failure or system failure.Has the disc worked before?Try running the install manually. Go to My Computer, Right Click E:\ and click 'Explore'. Look around for 'Setup' or 'Install' file (.exe format) and try it that why...may be an autorun problem? How far do you get into the install? Do you get a menu screen or anything like that?
Joe Sheehan! Joking, as noobie as it sounds, is E:\ your cd drive, or should it be D:\ ?Reason i say this is because most lappys only have 1 HDD so that might be the problem. If not then its probably not compatible with vista. Edited January 16, 2008 by Joe Sheehan!
anzo
It may be a problem, but I really doubt it. E:\ is an additional drive, perhaps you replaced a broken CD drive or using an external HDD and Windows will automatically issue it the next letter up. You can overcome this...Go to Control Panel, Control Panel, (Performance and Maintenance if on the gay view), Administrator tools, Computer Management, Disk Management (on the left panel), Right click the drive in question and click 'Change Drive Letter' and change the E to a D.Becareful though, some installed programs may be set to root drive E...making them inoperable if you've changed the letter. So if certain programs start causing problems, you know the reason.WARNING! IF YOU'RE USING AN EXTERNAL HDD, DO NOT CHANGE THE DRIVE LETTER! (It'll probably cause more problems than AOE3 is worth!)
