ben_travis
Anyone ever used 4D CAD software? or have a parent/relative that works in construction industry that may have used it?never saw this, but i was looking at your profile cos of the life crisis topic.i assume by 4D cad you mean modelling that includes information about stuff in the building?eg. a toilet block.when you extract the attributes (using cad) it tells you all the information about the toilet eg. price, manufacturer etc
munkee
4D cad = 3D cad + time.. based on a construction schedule. Therefore you can see a building being built on computer before its done for real. Allowing you to see conflicts etc and plan the whole operation.5D CAD = 4D cad + cost .. allowing a change you make in the 3d model to alter the design schedule and also the overall cost of the projectnD Modelling = Virtual reality with all of the above across multiple projects / international levels / cross disciplines. EtcThe topic is more to do with my dissertation. Im looking for people who have used the software, or maybe even used it within a company so they can answer a few questions i have about its implementation ( or well poor implementation which it currently faces in industry ) and is slow uptake.
