Hey dudes and dudettes,

I've been searching around here and t'internet for any reviews on the Kot Ms2 and haven't found any.

I'm interested in buying one and would just like some opinions on how they ride (long and short), any downsides, any recommendations on set-ups etc..

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Here's a PM I sent Waynio aaaaaages ago. May help (Y)

I'm on my second KOT at the moment mate, the '06 version. It's revised Geo and has another strenghtening bar between the seat and chain stays on the drive side. I'm not sure if you remember but Matt Staples' KOT was the '05 and only had the bar welded to the non-drive side as most riders are right-foot forward and so tend to sidehop left.

My first KOT was the '05 and it snapped on the drive side weld connecting the chainstay to the dropout (see picture below) and snapped after about 6 months, so it held up rather well despite the weakness.

Tartybikes sent me the '06 as a free warrenty replacement and it's been a fantastic frame. I've had it for roughly 9/10 months now and it's stood up to all sorts of punishment with no signs of weakness since the second bar has been added. The picture below isn't as clear as it could be but you can clearly see the bar on both sides.

My only beef with the frames at first was they flex quite a lot unless you use either a very thick 2-bolt or regular 4-bolt booster. Without one the wheel will rub every time you really give it some beans and you'll never get any power down. However, it's not a problem as I run a nice thick Adamant 2-bolt booster and my brake feels just as solid and holds just as well as any other I've felt so far. In my opinion the KOT MS2 is the perfect frame for me, feels beautiful.

Snapped my '06 quite quickly but it held for ages, i still have it actually.

The flex is a large problem, it (and the growing crack) screwed around with my pro II hub and had to keep getting the bearings replaced nearly every month or so (Hope loved me for that!)

Otherwise, mint frame, comfortable on the rear wheel and very light. You just need to be light and bouncy to ride one.
