Jason222
My friend Mike just put his new Zoo cranks on his bike. He rode mostly all day, and about an hour ago, the cog stripped off from the cranks. Now it just turns freely on the cranks. WTF?is there warrenty for that? squince
if its a defect then yes, if he put it on lop sided then no.
Mat Smith!
brand new? how much thread did he have left after putting a bashring on or whatever? sounds weird.Matx
FoxRacer
There was similar problem on old zoo cranks (made from U6), the new one (7075 alu) aren't meant to have problems like that:p But, if it actually happened to new version then go exchange it on warranty. Jason222
He put it properly and all...rode it for about 5 hours, then when he tried to go from two wheels to rear, the cog just slipped and stripped off? Weird.

Weird. What cog was it? My mate stripped a casette sprocket on his King... was only a standard MTB casette though.
Nick Garland
Im running a Surely 17t on my cranks for over a year now and no problem what so ever with Echo CNC 7075 cranks, he must have a defected pair or not put it on properly. Jason222
It was pretty standard, Brand new zoo cranks, zoo bash, spacer, and echo 18t cog.
padarik
It was pretty standard, Brand new zoo cranks, zoo bash, spacer, and echo 18t cog.how big was the spacer? want to get the cog on all of the threads , not to have it hanging off the crank arm by a few mm, will strip threads other wise! chrishayton
shouldnt have ran a spacer.
Jason222
You have to run a spacer, otherwise the cog is right up against the bashguard, and the chain wont go on.
The Duck
You have to run a spacer, otherwise the cog is right up against the bashguard, and the chain wont go on.Never had that problemAlso have had 3-4 sets of deng-o-cranks (CNC ones) and thats never happened to me.Did you grease the threads with copper grease? I do that with everything just to be on the safe side these days. In about a year, I've used about half a water bottle top of the stuff, so it doesn't really break the bank. Tom_
the spacer is there for when your NOT running a bash to space out the space where the bash would be...

Jason222
^ is that not right?
chrishayton
no scrap the bash and turn the cog around and look you have a spaced out cog.
kieldp
Firstly, that spacer is for when you don't run a bashring (to correct the chain line). Secondly the cog is the wrong way round.
