I_RIDE_ECHO!
hi guys,im new on here but has ive been on reading everybody post it seems to me a lot of you build your own bikes up,are they easy to build up or do most of you take them to your local bike shop to have made up? If you no what you are doing it is easy enough mate(Y) as long as you know where all the parts go it is pretty simple. I have built up most of my bikes, but i have had to slightly ajust or change things on my bike. e.g i had to cut down my fork stearer because it was too long but most of these things are simple enough mate.CHIGS

SWEENY TODD
CHIGS ,thats very nice of you mate,is it best to build 1 or buy 1 ready made up,everybody seems to be selling and swopping parts all the time?
vinny.p
I think building your own bike up is all part of the fun, and you get to know how everything works so if something breaks you know how to replace it or fix it
MadManMike
I prefer building bikes myself, but some of the factory made ones are good spec now... If you're not a great bike mechanic I'd say buy it ready made.
Dan@Trials-uk
More and more people prefer customer built bikes, as they can choose any parts/ colour they like:)Building a trials bike is very simple compared to downhill bikes etc...Building a trials bike you really just need:4,5,8 mm allen keys, BB tool, Chain tool, and headset press... but if you dont have access to the more specialied tools such as the BB tool and the headset press, get your local bike shop to install these parts(Y)after that its a breeze:) Oh yeh, not to mention you gotta get the steerer on the fork shortened aswell.Building your own bike you will learn more about it, so if it breaks or somthing you know where it might be broken etc.. and also its pretty fun to build a bike:)
Ash-Kennard
i advise you get another biker buddy round and build it together, between the two of you im sure you will work it out. remember be gentle on the threads, tight is good, too tight is not

I_RIDE_ECHO!
Yeah Dan you pretty much just summed it all up(Y) Like everyone has said already part of he fun of having a bike is building it. Then you can build your bike exactly how you want it and how it feels right to you. I bought my first bike in full it was an onza t-vee and i ended up changing most of the parts on it because it was all stuff that i didn't really like the look or the feel of. So personally i would just build my own bike. It takes longer but it is all worth it n the end(Y)CHIGS
chrisbikefix
to be ohnist i started out on a monty x-hydra (20" with a seat!) cost me about 1000 odd i think. i rode that till things broke and upgraded them parts. its a good way like evryone says finding out advantages and disadvantages on bits. It might be exspensive and time consuming ... but its the way to get a ride u really like!
