Will Arnold Posted January 10, 2008 Report Share Posted January 10, 2008 hey, got my monty freewheel this morning (ta tarty!) just wondering if anyone knows the process that monty used to get a red surface finish on the inner part of their freewheel. i'm pretty sure its steel, i didnt think steel could be anodised..heres the culprit..Monty Freewheelta! Dan6061 Posted January 10, 2008 Report Share Posted January 10, 2008 Steel is often 'aluminised' by the deposition of a very thin aluminium film onto the steel.This is mostly an American method.It is also common to use Al deposited steel in muffler and body constuction in the USA.
