Backwheeling

i personally would say the movement is simular to a big bunnyhop,but with a half crank turn envolved.here is my method. . ..

1.roll at the object with my pad foot forward at a jogging pace.

2.put my weight over the rear wheel and start to pedal to lift the front up.

3.as the front is up i extend upwards and pedal hard with my favorite foot forward.

4.once i am in the air i suck my legs up and push my bars forward and apply my rear brake.5.and land.

I see going up on to your back wheel as one of the fundementals of trials riding and I was wondering how to do it. Do people just do a quarter pedal turn to get up there and how did people find there balance spot?

it depends on how comfortable you are on your back wheel

i only use a 1/4 of a pedal kick to get up onto it and do small pedal kicks/hops to keep myself on the back!

once you can get onto the back wheel you will soon find your balance point and experiment with what suits you personally!

I do a half pedal stroke when I get up on the backwheel, if there is space to do it. Then I start with my "wrong" foot forward so I get my favourit foot forward when I'm up on the back wheel.

I use to do the same when side jumping too. Both wheels on the ground, wrong foot forward, half pedal stroke up to backwheel and directly jump from there.

If there is a tight space I lean forward and then swing backwards and does a 1/5 or 1/6 of a pedal stroke to get up on the backwheel.

I thinkthis guy is referring to simply getting the bike onto the backwheel, rather than jumping up something to the back wheel.

Personally it depends on where I am, if the ground is nice and flat i'll kick the pedals and let the back wheel roll under me, sometimes i'll do a small hop and kick, sometimes on rock's you won't be able to get a decent kick so just have to huck it, differant people have their own techniques.
