Drop Outs

Anyone out there have horizontal drop outs on a 26" frame? Do you find your chain won't stay tight, and when it is tight, with your cranks in one position its loose or even to tight when you move them in to a differant position? You come up with any solutions?

You will never have a chain that is tight all the way round.

The reason being that manufacturing tollerences arent 100%, which means that your Chain ring and cassette/rear sprocket arent completley round.

All you can do is set the chain to the correct tension at the tightest spot and deal with it being a little slack elsewhere.

Buying more expencive drive gear will have less deviation in it, but they will never be perfect.

Yep. I get that, I assumed it's cos my chainring and sprocket are both years old but it doesn't bother me in the slightest, cos the chain never gets loose enough to smack the chainstay or to skip off the cogs, so it's not a problem.
