Rules With Track Stands

Ive just joined and am a virgin Trialer, Im starting with the basics being a trackstand, and actually find it comfortable with my chocolate foot or "right foot forward" with the handle bars pointing to the left, is this ok?

Im guessing most people after a while can do all four combinations of trackstands, but would appreciate some feedback..

Cheers. :turned:

I can trackstand with the pedals anywhere, and the bars anywhere! It just comes with practice.

I can trackstand briefly (5-6 seconds, sometimes longer) with no hands :D:P

Sounds alright yeah, and you're right, as you get better in other areas you'll find trackstanding easy no matter which way you do it.

Now its time to move onto hopping on the spot on the rear wheel ;)

Shite Id be happy to be able to do it for that long, guess more practice is needed... Cheers dude..

There arn't "Rules"

just tips to help yourself,

you seem to have the right idea about which foor to have forward and which way to point your bars.

as you get better,

your balance will develop and you'll laugh at this topic!

Lol

Cheers man, Im practising on a full suspension frame, and will be getting a basic trial bike in a few weeks, not many of them in my country, as not many people here are doing it or know what this sport is... will keep practising anyways.. :D

Pity I can't do anything else. :(

Haha cheers dude, buy yourself some full on body armour, put on an mp3 of ACDC or some hard house and just goes for it! :D

THAT would be hard,

on a full sus.

higher centre of gravity therefore balance would be harder!

Keep it up!

I could trackstand no handed on my jump bike sitting down, haven't tried it on my Echo yet.

Ooh hopping on the spot! Took me f**king ages to get that down. I kept going fowards and backwards all the gaying time.

Sitting down is cheating, you have to be standing up :P

People are different. Do it how your comfortable. Around here. Tom does it with no breaks. I prefer to do it with brakes. it varies massively.

Yeah your right dude, Ive seen some vids of guys doing it on bikes with no brakes fitted, Ive tried that and its way harder without brakes, guess ill practice with brakes for now and get used to no brakes later. Cheers.. :D

i remember when i started i was reading mbuk trials class like 3-4 years ago, they said turn the wheel away from your forward foot, i practiced and practiced and just couldn't hack it, then i just turned the wheel towards my forward foot then it was sorted straight away, everybody's different you just got to find out what suits you best, but now i can do both ways.

good luck

:turned: Sounds like life in general, we should have 8 glasses of water a day, then we shouldnt, a glass of wine a day is ok, then its not, 5 srvings of fruit and veges a day, then actually your body doesnt need this amount, smoking is bad for you, but in moderation its ok, guess its finding what works well for the situation.. Cheers dude.. :D

Once you've got it with brakes, try straightening the wheel. Once you've got that, try doing it without using brakes.

It's harder than it sounds :)

I try to keep my wheel pointing one way, but out of having to balance, it usually turns from left to right, i guess after time Ill be able to keep it pointing one way.. Wicked advise Bruva.. :turned:
