Alright guys.

My Sennheisers are about dead. So I need to get some new ones.

Don't like the in-ear jobbies as they destroy my ear.

They need to pump the bass too, as I hate with a passion headphones that you can't hear bass with and have a decent output too.

Preferably somewhere I can walk into and buy them as I need them asap really, but ebay/shop links welcome too.

Got about £30-£40 to spent...

Suggestions?

I bought some from HMV. Some Sony ones. I actually thought I'd only use them til I got into the studio, and I started using the ones in the building, but they're really nice. Good bass responce when cranked up, and a great mic too. (YES I use them as a Mic too....) ha ha.

They were about £15 when I bought 'em...

ok from experience so far, in ear is still the best way to go but thats obviously nto what you're looking for, but if you ever change your mind, get some Shure E2G, seriously best sound i've heard for the money.

i used to have some sennheiser PX100's loved them and broke them and always wanted to replace them. they sound fantastic for £20-30, i ain't tried the PX200, but there's a lot of mixed reviews on them so i'd personally stick with the PX100 except everyone can hear you if you have them on loudish...

just bought a pair of skullcandy lowriders today, can't say i like them that much, though it looks pimp when i took them out of the package it felt flimsy and cheap, but it does fold into a nice size and comes with a 6.3mm adaptor (though for the sound quality i doubt anyone would be using the 6.3 for anything special)...

sound quality - i would say my old px100 are better - clarify and fair amount of punchy bass, skullcandy treble was OK and bass is on the weak side considering its got a massive driver....just doesn't seem to be as good considering costing £35!!

hope i've helped.

So keep away from the low riders? They were the ones I had in mind. I just want some heavy bass and ones that output the sound crisp and loud.

erm i would say so unless you can get it for less than £25.... i paid £28 for mine.

my mate paul has the slightly cheaper ones (not sure what they called but they're £20 RRP) and from my memory they seem to be better headphones, at least for the money anyway.

im trying to enjoy these new phones at the moment, been listening for about 4-5 hours now, its quite hard really as i'm well used to my E2G..

Skullcandy headphones are amazing and some have a built in amplifier so there super load and bass.

Cheers.

and no if you haven't used much other headphones you can't say 1 brand is amazing... (not that im that experienced but i have used a lot of headphones before...)

Some of the Skull Candy ones do get good reviews, but I get the impression they're mostly about the fashion rather than sound quality.

Today we'll have a look at Skullcandy's answer to noise canceling headphones, the Skullcrushers. Do these headphones have sophisticated active noise canceling features? No. Do they cater to the executive traveler who despises coach and prefers to sip mixed drinks in first class? No. Do they drown out background noise with a healthy dose of bass rumbling and sheer over-powering volume? You're damn right.

Grado SR60s? A bit out of your price range but supposed to be very good!

I have some Sennheiser Mx510s and I don't rate them at all. I think they were about £15 and I'm sure the more expensive ones are good, but these are not a huge amount better than the bog-standard ones you get with MP3 players. Plus they're really uncomfortable. Basically I'm saying just because they're Sennheiser doesn't mean they're automatically good.
