Hello Good Sir;

Funnily enough, I've been talking about this to Tall Rob abd Spode. I've been planning a trip aboard. I won't be riding due to my knee injury a few months back. However I want to come along and take photo's. Rob and I were talking bout over a weekend in Paris, however this has caught my eye as I was planning a driving holiday. I know 3 who would love to come, and combining it with Koxx days sounds a smash. When for certain were you planning on going? How would accomodation work? And also Mr Benji Swales, I did promise to come down and see you.....

wow mike, fair do's for going ahead with this! I was just going to do france + germany!!

Might be better if you have another car going too to carry spares and stuff? just a thought (keep the spare tyres in THAT car instead :P ) Maybe if joe goes too, you can change your policy to include him on it too so you dont have to drive all the time? (If you trust him ofcourse....)

But seriously good luck, if I can help let me know! Maybe a halfords will sponsor you? :P £1 a mile!

You have inspired me and my mate to think about doing one aswell, We wanna start in Denmark, then maybe hit some eastern european countries, finish up in somewhere like switzerland, stopping off in Liecthenstein on the way (dont ask why, that place just intruiges me) Its a bit of a dream this trip but we'll see, we wanna travel by train though instead, ive just been looking at the deals on interrail.

You should hit Dubrovnik in croatia, i went there a few years back, not biking obvioulsy but whenever i go abroad i always seem to notice lines, and there was some sweet ones. Sounds like a sweet plan though. Id love to do it if i didnt have work and uni.

Cool, looks a bit far south & out of my way though really - it depends where the guys I know there live of course!

let me know when you get to madrid, i´m living there at the moment and am taking my bike back out tomorrow so i´ll be able to take you round and introduce you to some local riders. there´s usually a few people staying in my flat at any given time, but if there´s space you´d be more than welcome to crash there for a couple of nights aswell.

good luck!

Cheers Ben, sounds great - I'll definately take you up on that one. Do you know if there's any events around in april?

I would definitly go as i am 18 now, and most EU countries allow drivers over 18 to drive, with a permit that is like £5.

But i think you do it in the school summer holidays where people like me don't have to get time off important time off their a levels and even uni students. My holidays in the summer are about 6 weeks.

JK

Definately won't be going in the summer holidays! :P Higher ferry & accomodation costs, plus gash loads of tourists. Plus I couldn't wait another three months lol.

I'm seriously interested.

I live in Israel and saving my money for Koxxdays and then stay in Europe to ride ride ride (for 4-6 month).

I will love more information etc.?

Tom.

Tom, I've replied to your pm.

Sounds good! I've been trying to find the dates for koxx days, but the millions of koxx websites piss me off and don't work! Either way I'll be going around a week/10 days before KD. Accomodation wise, I'm hoping to spend as much time as I can staying with other riders. I've got other friends & family dotted around the place who I'll be staying with.

Apart from that I'll probably end up sleeping in the car lots, and the occasional hostel/cheap b&b when I'm feeling luxurious. :P

i will be up for flying out to meet u in a few place over the trip for defo. i will talk to u about it closer to the time but yeah defo up for going back to barsa and that..

Sounds awesome Ad - would be great to have you along for the ride! :)

Make it in the summer holidays

See above - no. :P

you missed the most expensive part of europe!

Yeah good point rob :wink2:

Damn I'd love to come up there, but it's gonna add at least 2000 miles onto my trip. I think going up there is something I'm gonna do at some point maybe this year, just not this trip. :)

You have no idea how close I am to sacking everything off and coming with you Mike....

Rich

As I said on MSN Rich, you're more than welcome. :)

Thats a valid point about the raised summer prices which is when we are wanting to do ours, because thats the time i have off uni. Anyone know of good spots around europe to ride, for example the best Natural spots, Best street, seriously say anywhere cos we are looking at where we wanna go.

don´t know at the moment mate, i´ll keep my eyes open in the meantime. i take it you mean riding events etc. but i´ll let you know if anything else good is going on - there´s quite often fiestas in the city, with concerts parades etc. for example, in april and may:

International Gourmet Fair

A paradise for food and wine lovers, the annual Madrid Gourmet Fair has improved every year since it was first held in 1987 to showcase Spain’s fine food and beverages. Traditionally the fair opens with the entertaining ‘Ham Carving Competition’ (ham being a staple delicacy in Spain, and gourmets being particularly partial to ham from acorn fed pigs). There is also wine-tasting, a gourmet cook-off in which top chefs from Spain’s autonomous regions compete, a ‘Spanish cheese’ contest and of course plenty of delights to sample at the stands of more than 700 national and international exhibitors.

Venue: Casa de Campo Exhibition Centre; Date: 14-17 April 2008

Fiesta de San Isidro

Madrid goes wild each May in honour of the city's patron saint, San Isidro, with a traditional round of partying, feasting and dancing in the streets that goes on for about 10 days around the designated saint's day, 15 May. The city's streets are dominated by music, and each neighbourhood (barrio) chimes in with their own street party or traditional celebration. The city's squares become centres of performances of everything from flamenco to rock 'n roll, while spectators feast on traditional ice cream and doughnuts. San Isidro's fiesta also signals the start of the city's bullfighting season at the Plaza de Toros Monumental de Las Ventas. For more information dial the Tourist Information line on 010 (Madrid) or +34 (0)91 540 4040\4010 (when calling outside of Madrid).

Venue: Plaza Mayor, Plaza de las Vistillas, Plaza de las Comendadoras, Plaza de Felipe II, Parque del Retiro and the Centro Cultural de la Villa in the Jardines del Descubrimiento; Date: May 2008, TBC

and a streetboarding event (not exactly sure what streetboarding is, but might be worth a look, http://streetboarding.com/2007/04/23/uxs-madrid/

all depends on what you want to do see while you´re there and what you can fit in alongside all the riding.
