Phil H
Im looking at getting a front disc, can you please recomend me a really good oneim new to disc so not a clue what im looking for, also whats with all the rotor sizes?how do i know which size i need?thanks for any helpMain sizes are 160mm 180mm and 203mm. 160 is abit small for a 26" but some people use them on mods. 180 is the normal choice as its got alot of stopping power and isn't overly massive. 203 is abit overkill for trials and are more at home on a DH bike but a few people use them, also more of a risk of hitting it on the wall. So I would reccomend 180mm when it comes to size. As for the actual brake... If your looking for Hydraulic - Hope Mono Trials are rated highly and alot of high level riders use them but they aren't exactly cheap. I'm using a magura marta at the moment which I'm getting on very well with. If its a cable disk your looking for the avid bb7 is hailed by many as the best disk around for trials and all in after you have brought the lever and cable seperately from the caliper and disk will end up cheaper than a Hope Mono.Hope that is some use.Phil
smoke257
Hey, i would recommend the avid bb7, Although the hope monos and tyall hyraulic disk are pritty good. They are expensive and allot harder to set up and maintian, The bb7 is pritty simple but bloody powerfull. And cost around 45 quid new.As for sizes i would say it depends on what you ride and how you ride, but personaly i would go for a 185 as its not to big to get in the way, and still looks sick
Vee
thanks alot, but doesnt it matter about the mounting bracketlike if uyou use a big rotor wouldnt the bracket need to be further up the forks?
smoke257
When you buy a disk brake it will always come with an adapter to bring it up to the right size so no worries there.

Vee
id never trust a disc on the rear, i like hearing the brake work if u get what i meansomehting about a silent brake reminds me about a slipping brakehaha
JonMack
I dunno, I think they're good on mods, plenty powerful enough. What do most people run on the rear of their bikes if they're running discs anyway? Is it usually Mono Trials?
