DavidPastorino Posted January 3, 2008 Report Share Posted January 3, 2008 Hey guys,I m in an engineering school, and I have to build a non scientific project.After having negociated a bit, I got the right to do a video about the development of trials (bike only) and its future.I already got contacts with the french community (Koxx especially, Yaabaa too, I m consiering meeting other french people), and I m having a meeting with the spanish community in february.Unhappily, I won t be able to go to uk to videointerview the main "leaders" of the british way to ride.I m looking for someone knowing much of trials history and being present enough in the uk community to give me a broad view of the uk trials motivations and progress.My project is based on these 3 communities point of view.Well then i fyou feel concerned about this, that would be really great for this project. For example, Ben Savage has a completely different style to tunni or damon...Id say, for 3 communities go for a very urban/street area, and very natural area and somewhere where with both? and see what sort of bikes those people use. As an example:Up north in Yorkshire tends to be pretty awesome for natural, and they'd use different frames to that of Matt Berridge When he says communities im pretty sure he means countries, it'd be a ball ache to do three 'communities' per country would it not? and the fact that there is generally only street and natural (not strictly speaking but generally) would mean that you'd effectively be making up a community.Yes bens style is differant to damon and tunni, but again I don't think he's wanting information on people's riding style(again that would be infinate), but more about the development of trials, damon and tunni can't really say they have been there since 'the start' can they? I agree that street should be a part of it, but if your wanting information on the development of trials as a sport, I still think the likes of fred and babs would be idealWhat about wayne? he might be even better being involved in the comp scene aswell as street with the likes of ackrigg..... As far as im concerned he's another comp rider from france who is silly tall, that's about it, I could name a number of uk equivalent's if that's what he's looking for, but I didn't get that impression.When was the last time vinco had a vid posted on here? I can understand when people get arsey about 'kids' not knowing who the martin's are, but vinco hasn't got tricks and stunts, numerous front cover's of leading bike mags etc, certainley not here in the uk anyway, his exposure is limited.edit: 'kids today' - coming from someone younger than me! would it have anything to do with the fact that you folks would be more connected with europe and such than us? He's just done much for trials, He's been 8 times world champion if I remeber well. He's also been the first one to use longer bikes (remember his vario, cut in the middle to make it longer) and recently (3 years), higher bottom brackets.Wll, I'm contacting all these people and see who'd be ready to answer my questions Thanks guys !
