I Keep Snapping My Chains, What Is Wrong?

Tonight i snapped my 3rd chain in about 4 weeks! i was pedling home after about half an hours riding.

Pedling along i heard a dink and the back wheel locked up, looked to find my chain had come off after a couple of minutes of trying to put my chain on i finally got it back on, got back on my bike harlf a pedal turn and it went dink again put my chain fell on the floor, its done this 3 times whilst peddling home or pedling about and once gapping.

Why is it my chains keep snapping? All of the chains ive snapped has keen kmc cool chains and other kmc chains.

Don't mean to sound partonising..... but do you know how to fit a chain propperly? i mean.... im used to fixing chains but..... if there all new chains it shouldn't be breaking, however if 1 link goes the whole chains usually ready to go!

use the kmc split link!

i've always used one and only ever snapped a kmc twice in like 4 years!

i guaran-damn-tee that its due to dodgy chain toolage

Between me and my mate, we have snapped 5 in a year. I'd rather take it out and have it never snap again.

LOL

Mine popped off after about 2 rides just after a drop.

Id say never use split link in trials.

Its called a snap link for a reason.

It snaps.

I had one for about a month for it to split.

Just a chain with no master link is the way to go.

Having one link different from the others makes it more likely to break.

No, it's called a split link mate (Y)

Er... I have had no problem with the split links. They're easily strong enough and I think if you're having problems with the back bit popping off you're probably doing it wrong.

What i ment by it rubs, the freewheel rubs on the bb shell, if you sully turn the cranks round harf a turn you can hear it scrape, then harf a turn you cant.

That's not good. That either means your freewheel has been put on incorrectly - at an angle, or your bb is bent. Either one of those will cause the extra tension in the chain and cause the chain to snap.

You bb is too short then. :)
