PaRtZ
I'm now running a hollow starnut setup so that my cable runs through my forks, and it worked really well. Now I say worked because for some reason the last couple of rides I brought it out and its just lost all of its power! No bite or hold at all, cant even stop me when I trackstand....Now I don't know why its happening because here are my answers so far:Its not contaminationIts not bad setup (doing the wind the outer pad adjuster in, tighten slotted bolts, unwind adjuster method to set it up)Its not pad wear because this happened all of a sudden, my front wheel was out and the bike was in the carIts not the rotor; all the bolts are tightNow it might the cable routing, for some reason my BB7 was really weird and never seemed very smooth (perhaps time to upgrade...) but now its getting silly. Any other ideas? Im running out...Thanks guys
Al_Fel
maybe when you set it up the wheel was in on a slight angle so when you've taken the wheel out and put it back in again its gone straight but the caliper is set up wrong. Still seems god awful!Keep them coming though
Ryan Blackwell
This may sound a silly one but just chuck some water over the disc this same thing happend to me so i threw some water over the disc and then some mud a just dragged the brake and it was mint again
liam-pantera
if the bend in your cable is to sharp it may not pull enough cable through they system to lock the break try running it without the hollow steerer .
Lawnmowerman
Is the arm on the caliper bottoming out?
smoke257
Try running it with out putting it trought the star nut, so theres no cinks or bends atall, maybe even try a new cable. So you can see if the cable is the problem, also like said above, water works a treat
Jason222
I've had this EXACT same problem. You can do 2 things:1. Take wd40 or some other kind of spray lubricant and spray the inside of your housing and some of the cable. Don't get any of this shite on your rotor or pads though.2. Replace the housing and cable. Also make sure that you're not using derailleur housings. Edited January 2, 2008 by Jason222
Dan6061
Mine did this a while back.. Turned out I pulled the lever too hard/didn't tighten the cable up enough, and the cable just slipped a bit. So it wasn't pulling it enough.Try loosening the cable and see if you can pull it through anymore...
