rmeyer
Hi people, I'm from Oxford and new to bike trials. Currently I own Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 2006, which I mainly used for XC riding for the past year. I recently started getting into urban/street riding and I think urban trials riding is something I would really like to learn. I practice on my Stumpjumper, but when I start getting better I think I'll be better off with a proper trials bike, which brings me to the following questions:1 - I would like to build a custom trials bike based on BT Raven (horizontal) 8.0 frame (http://www.btbike.com). Does anyone have experience with BT bikes/frames and could tell me if they're any good? I quite like this particular frame because it has support for rear disc brakes, I'd like a bike with front and rear disc brakes. What do you think of it?2 - Trials bikes have wheels with wide rims, why is that? If I'm gonna run rear disc brakes on a trials bike, I think it would be better off with wheels that have straight pull spokes, since they can handle the forces exerted by the brakes. I haven't really seen any trials specific wheels with straight pull spokes, what do you think about running something like Mavic DeeMax wheels on a trials bike?3 - What kind of disc brakes would you recommend for trials? The stronger the better? I was thinking about something like Avid Code brakes, what do you think of them?Well, that's it for now. Cheers.PS. If anyone lives in Oxford and wants to hook up for riding sometime, let me know.
