Caleb
I recently downloaded the trial version of nod32 as my computer kept messing up on youtube videos and restarting, i also tried avast antiirus.however since then (24th) my computer will turn on very slowly then just crash when it eventually does get onto the home screen?is there a way i can delete these files (perhaps they are the problem) in a safe mode or something similar?cheers in advance
Muel
Try booting up in safe mde and running a Virus scan with anything.Sounds like you might be in for a fresh install though...
Caleb
booted up in safe mode, ran all of my antivirus soldiers which kind o sorted it out, still very slow, could it to be due to a fan being buggered or not big enough?could i whack another in there easily enough? although i didnt notice much of a difference with the side panels off to get more air in etc . . . Tell you what, download a free little program called speedfan and install it, then open it and it'll tell you your processor temperatures. let us know what processor it is and the temperature speedfan gives and we'll be able to determine if its alright or not. Thermal throttling (is what its called when your processor slows down because its too hot) doesn't generally kick in till about 80-90 degrees celcius.Take a print screen (print screen button on keyboard) of your computer screen with the task manager open (press ctrl+alt+del to open it). Caleb
Cheers for the help lads, i really should learn more about computers im on them when im not in the pub !
Krisboats
To be fair, nothing looks out of place there. Temps all look fine, low amount of processes, nothings eating away your memory or processor usage. You got much room left on your hard drive/defragmented it lately? My hard drive gets noticeably slower if i'm down to less than 1gb free space on each partition (160gb drive, 2 partitions). If you havn't done a defrag in a while give that a go, its (re-arrange items on your hard disk to make..... etc) in the control panel under performance and maintenance. Hendrix
Was gonna say. When I have limewire open on my PC, it makes everything crazy slow. Possibly the same with yours ? Why have you got limewire anyway, it's illigal isn't it ?
Caleb
yeah i normally download at night and leave my computer on rarely if im wanting to download something, i literally have to fully shut down limewire/bitcomet/mozilla/wmp all at the same time to listen to a song, or use vlc mediai have 100 gig free on my hard drive and defragged and disc cleaned up a few days ago as well as running all virus protections over night.(Danny) sorry but don't really know any specifics on the cpu etc but i imagine that shows some of the temps?i cant really think of much else to try, just has got progressively worse (ironic?) over the lkast few weeks and getting to a point where im having to listen to techno versions of my classics due to them jumping so much.also can anyone recommend a half decent turn table/record player secondhand on ebay or something to play some old 12" s on? ive been looking at garrard and technics, cant imagine id go too far wrong but reassurance would be, err well reassuring.cheers m'dears

Muel
Filesharing isn't illegal. Downloading material for free infringes copyright, or the patents act, or some f**king act.Anyway, havinh the software installed isn't illegal, downloading films and music and games and programs and anything else, is. Danny
(Danny) sorry but don't really know any specifics on the cpu etc but i imagine that shows some of the temps?Humm those screenshots show enough and everything seams fine there. Have you checked in device manager to see if there's any drivers missing perhaps? Failing that you can never beat a fresh install of windows.
