Wheres cheapest, i know nothing about macs at all, ive always used shit pc's but i want an apple as i do alot of stuff with photos, is there anything i should know, how much is PS, or could i use my dodgy copy?

im looking at the 13" for 699

As far as im aware...you wont get cheaper than the price on apple site ( unless your a student ). Macs are the same price everywhere,

And that macbook for 699 is shit. I kid you not.. Even the macboys will agree. You get a laptop for pc laptop for £300, same spec as that £700 apple shit.

mate save up for the higher spec one, but you can buy DDRAM off ebay for alot less than apple charge, and its piss easy to fit, pop the battery out take the ram out and replace with new ones go for 4GB for around £50, but on apple website the upgrade for that is £449 roughly when i last looked, i know joe maher says they are expensive but you wont care once you have it its worth saving up the money,

I won't agree with that, no way. I have never seen any £300 PC laptop that is any good. They are ALL huge, chunky, noisy with poor keyboards and screen. Macs are pretty competitive price-wise these days, the £699 Macbook is decent for the money (I think it's about £619 with the discount btw). You have to remember that you are paying a bit extra for a 'premium' product - like buying an IBM Thinkpad or a Sony laptop. I've just compared the Macbook to a £700 Dell laptop (N.B. not a £619 Dell ;) ) and there's really not that much in it. The Dell gets you a bit more hard drive space and some more RAM, but nothing more than that really. CPU is the same. Oh, and the Dell is about 500g heavier and a lot fatter.

Dave, Photoshop on Mac is different so you'd need to buy the 'mac' version - or download the free trial from adobe.com if they're still doing that. But for Photos I'm not really convinced Macs are loads better. In fact, if I was ONLY doing photo work, I'd definitely spend the money on a fast (desktop) PC with a nice monitor. It'll be faster (desktops just naturally are), cheaper, and you can get a better monitor, plus much easier to upgrade storage etc. Photoshop is basically identical now between PC and Mac, there's nothing to choose between them.

Doesn't that class as spam? thats what i got banned for ^^^

I personally think that Photoshop does run better on a mac but to be perfectly honest. It doesn't matter. I mean. looking at a image made in photoshop. You couldnt tell if it was done on a mac or a pc. I just prefer Mac OSX as an OS and Mac's looks fookin lovely :)

I think you get 14% off being a Uni student, less being a sixth form (maybe 11%). 4gb of Ram is like £115 from Crucial.com too, much cheaper than buying from Apple and as said above, you can fit it yourself :)
