Skoze
It depends on what you've got in them, care to tell us? standard oil? water?Should be perfectly fine.. just let it warm up again on its own and dont sqeeze it/ bend the hoses around if its properly frozen. sholiver 11
sorry i have water in them. It a was wanting to know will it exband the piston or that becoause when you freeze water it exbands
Sir_Hops_Alot
Yes it will, mine froze last week and with the water expanding it pushed the pistons out. Try to keep it in a warm place until you can bleed them with some anti-freeze,which is what i have done with mine now, and they run fine. Aleksander
I guess it will do okay, since this happens to me sometimes and it doesn't seem to get damaged. But I think you should avoid it because it can't be healthy for the brake. Edited December 18, 2007 by Aleksander
pengsmelly
ye anitfreeze should stop the problem happening again. but dont put really cold water in your brake just a drop of warm water too so its not really cold. lol
sholiver 11
yeah thanks guys for the fast repiles. I have just taking it in just felf the lever get stiffer when a pulled it in. Yeah a realy should bleed it with some anti-freeze in the water
steve@banbury-trials
mine frooze solid last week so i had to borrow a bike to get to work, bleed the brake with some anti-freeze and wrap something around the brake to keep insulated,i use some fabric stuff my mum uses to keep the frost of the plants.steve
Sir_Hops_Alot
Just don't puller the levers anymore and let it thor out on its own. Then invest in some anit-freeze and you will never have to worry about it again.

Lloyd B
i had this problem and i unscrewed the tpa out as far as possible to releive the pressure then i put inside to unfreeze the flushed out the whole brake with anti freeze then bled it with oil
JoeM
Would going on a ride with just plain water in this weather make it freeze? Or is it just when you leave them outside?
Lloyd B
mine froze when i was riding but it was when i left it for like 2 minuits this was at night though wen it is colder so it will probs be ok......but bleeding it with oil wouldnt be a bad idea in winter loads of the people i ride with had the same problem

vinny.p
I know this isnt an answer to the question but why the hell do people have water in their brakes instead of oil and how do they stay lubricated without oil.
sholiver 11
I know this isnt an answer to the question but why the hell do people have water in their brakes instead of oil and how do they stay lubricated without oil.well i have water in my brake because it is not as spongey as it is with oil
Ste Wilson
Correct me if i am wrong but i always used water because it is thinner than magura oil and it gave a more "snappy" feel... snappy what a word ste
Sir_Hops_Alot
Yeah it feels so much better than oil, makes the lever return alot quicker n the pressure to move the pads be there instantly!
Ladd
I know this isnt an answer to the question but why the hell do people have water in their brakes instead of oil and how do they stay lubricated without oil.Becasue in a magura the seals are plastic so they dont acually need lube in them , but if you were to bleed a hope with water it would just ruin the brake because the seals are metal.
