Revolver
i wonder, because i know a guy who 3 weeks ago bought a proto onza frame with the reversed chain tensioner systemit was black too. It's an onza T-master proto, i gathered.they guy who rides it is tall, has a shaved head and a f**k-off tattoo reet down his left arm.and i believe he mentioned something about belt drive.interesting idea, that. No tension issues, it won't eat your jeans, or snap. I've seen a mtb with one, it looked beefy

Captain Scarlet
Or how about every new frame comes with a belt ready for belt drive. Then if they are so mega strong, you could keep that one belt for your frame.Everyone is concerned about slipping down to bash and hitting the belt.I'd be more concerned about slipping down to bash and hitting my chainstays if they were that low. Bionic Balls
belt drive? can't see that getting popular in a hurry....and other onza protos on the cards? i love seeing the weird and wonderful things you lot are trying
mad_gavo
Other then getting the belt onto the frame in the first place I cant really see any major downsides to the idea. Would love to see something new like this come in
Tamnessâ„¢
I've seen a belt drive on a downhill bike and all the gearing is done in a box near the cranks. No idea how it works, though its meant to be really light and make shifting quicker. I'll see if I can find a pic.[edit]Found one that runs with a chain[/edit] Edited January 2, 2008 by Tamness
Tomm
I don't think those gearbox things are especially light. They're supposed to be reliable and harder to damage. Plus they move the weight into the middle of the bike. But overall I think they're heavier.
Danny
Did anyone see the internals of the 'Mysterious BMW (Or was it Volvo? Was a car manufacturer either way) Gearbox'? Turned out to be essentially a standard derailleur in a box.
Tomm
Haha sweet I suppose it can be well lubricated and protected though.
