Krisboats
Do you drink enough fluids? I had the same problem and a quick trip to the doctors and they said that sometimes a feeling of being hungry is a sign that you need to drink more, which is howcome i sometimes feel really hungry again after a really big meal. Glass of squash sorts it out.
Gavyn.
don't worry too much about diabetes unless your drinking a lot and going to the toilet every 30 mins or so
Mark W
Gayboy On a more serious but still not helping at all, I am pretty much the opposite of you in that respect, if i could, I would live off meat alone! Pretty much anywayDon't get me wrong - I'd exclusively eat steaks or beef and black bean sauce all f**kin' day if I could, but it's more an ethics/quality thing. If it isn't free-range/organic/whatever, I'm not really interested. At my end of the food market, the meat tends to be properly shit quality, and just not really be all that good, so I just haven't bothered with it. Krisboats - good call, I was thinking that may have been the case. I'll just try sinking a glass of water more often.g4vyn - cheers for the info too. I thought that you needed that whole drink loads/piss loads thing, but yeah, couldn't remember 100%...

minitrialer
Like Kris said the water thing is probably a really good shout. I but four jacket potatoes from asda when I go for 50p! Either do them in the oven n they taste goooooood but take a while or raz 'em in the microwave for 5 mins or so. Good with cheese/ham/rice/pasta/beans anything! Pretty much anywayhah me too, though for expense and shoppin and preparation i just cant.doesnt sounds like diabetes though if your drinking as normal, if it is your lifestyle will change a minimal amount since its to do with water rather than insulin
TomN
Go carbo, potates, wholemeal pasta, wholemeal bread, etc. Plus water + tuna
scousertrials
Three words, slow release carbs.Potatoes will make you feel hungry after a while. It goes like this. Sugars which are extrinsic are flooding your blood stream and insulin will lower you BM pretty quick. Intrinsic sugars are released slowly from food and they are released slowly into your blood stream. So foods like pasta, potatoes, bread (wholemeal or not) will make you feel hungry after you've eaten it.Foods which trap sugars in the cells will be better. Porridge is good to start in the morning.Your glycogen stores can hold up to 2000 calories. You aint got diabetes. spode@thinkbikes
Mark, if nothing has changed and you're suddenly very hungry, it really is worth going to the doctors about. It's a key symptom doctors will ask you about. There are parasites that you don't shit out, that can go undetected. You could be in the early stages of hyperthyroidism, diabetes, cancer, or one of several other gastrointestinal conditions. Not that I'm trying to worry you But anything like that, as amusing as it is - isn't right!
tomturd
Hunger Maker Go Awayer DeviceBut really, just eat bigger meals maybe. Having pasta? Add a garlic bread. Having beans on toast? Add a load of cheese, extra slice of toast etc. Soup? Fill the bugger with broken up bread, cheese and anything you can find.

You aint got diabetes.Although that is all very true, if Mark's diet hasn't changed then this wouldn't suddenly become a problem, he would have always been affected by it. And you can't categorically say he doesn't have diabetes. He probably doesn't, as he'd have other symptoms too - but it's a simple urine dip test that doctors can do there and then if he decides to visit. yoyoyo
Have you just started eating breakfast, because that can help your metabolism which could be why your losing weight instead of gaining.
Mark W
Cheers for all the help, everyone! I've been thinking of rocking the porridge at breakfast for a while now, may give it a bash. Does generic kinda "not really porridge" stuff like ReadyBrek have the same properties, or is that so processed it's pretty much just going to be a bowl of awesomeness, but not really be that nutritional? kells
You want low GI foods so the energy is released slower so you won't get as hungry as quick. Foods such as: porridge, pasta, rice, spaghetti, noodles, different types of beans, milk stuff like that. Also in this lecture the other day we watched this video were 3 different people were fed pasta with protein (chicken), fat (some creamy sauce) and just pasta and the person who had chicken stayed the fullest for longer. So try and eat a bit of meat tooEdit - Also ready brek is just as good as the oats stuff just more expensive and it might have some added salt or sugar, you could always add some treacle or sugar too if it gets boring Edited December 15, 2007 by kells
JT!
If it's that bad where your actually spending more money on food to the point where it's effecting your budget, that's a shitload of extra food.Maybe make a doc apoinment. It's free after all. They might just take some blood ect and see what's up.

Mark W
If it's that bad where your actually spending more money on food to the point where it's effecting your budget, that's a shitload of extra food.Rent per week: £110.Food: £25.Travel: £10.Work-related travel: £20~Food when I'm out doing stuff: £10~Misc. stuff (e.g. batteries, photographic paper for uni, etc.): £10-20~So yeah, bearing in mind that means that on an average week I'm lashing out almost £200, without actually having a job, any slight increase in budget in one area f**ks me over. So it's not like "I'm spending more money on food to the point where it's effecting my budget", it's just that if I spend any more at all, it's too much. So I'd rather work with what I have, if you get me.

You get quite a few to a bag, so I just bang a couple in my pockets if I'm going for a ride or whatever, then chow down on them. The last bag I got was dick though, it's like they stored them with the Makes Sense Rocks or something \
