Removing A Stuck Bb

hello

My friend has given me his bike to try sort it out and the bottom bracket is shot.

The bottom bracket is in a steel frame and wont shift, DOES ANYONE have any ideas of how to get this thing out??

I've been suggested to bolt the BB tool onto the bottom bracket and then hold the tool in a bench vice and use the frame as the lever..

I haven't tried this method yet but i would appreciate any smat ideas.

thanks guys

first off you do know that the diveside is oposite thread ie screws in anti clockwise and screws out clockwise. Your bb shouldnt be hard to come out as they usualy work themselves loose. It may have gone in crossthread. Or is it a leeson frame? arnt the bbs put in at lesson by heating the bb shell up and then screwing it in so that when it cools down its a super tight fit?

Im sure I heard of this a few years ago...but manufacurers strayed away from it due to air pockets in the surrounding welds going POP....

Or was that something else?!?!

seriously the BB (90% of the time ateast) is NOT stuck. Its just incredibly incredibly stiff.

I had to take a bb out of a 2 year old frame with a 6 foot Iron bar slotted over the end of the monkey wrench I was using. It takes a lot of effort to remove BB's so firstly find a big bar to use before you try anything.
