Windows Xp

Hey guys. Right. I've just brought a computer off a mate. Now, it's all in working order but i don't have the system restore disc to take it back to factory settings because i need to format it.

Now. I have a copy of Windows XP Home Edition which is the same as what is on the computer now. I do have the authorization code which come with my mates copy of Windows XP.

Now. Could i just install the version i have and use that authorization code ? Because all the copys of windows are the same are they not ? and if the Authorization code has already been registered to the exact same computer it should be fine ?

If that is not possible. Do you guys know of any other way in which i can restore it factory settings without the system restore disc ? Or a way to get hold of the disc again ?

Thanks

Danny.

Yeah got the same XP on my pc and laptop i thought it wouldnt work but i just went for it and it did. (Y)

Thats cause you have the same IP address. Thats the only time it becomes an Issue. Its fine to just install on your pc if your not going to be connecting to the internet. But if you connect to the net it becomes a problem.

If you use yours and install and register it on your IP address then it wont be a problem at all.

If you use the one off the back of the computer it will also work along as its the same version disc as the keycode.

It wont be a problem if you register it from your internet connection and then plug it in elsewhere later, once its registered its done.

I did it on my laptop. My home pc and my games pc.
