Lawnmowerman
I got a rear mono trial a few weeks ago and ever since fitting it it's been leaking out of the back of the resevoir. Has anyone had the same problem? I've tried a little bit of instant gasket and some silicone but it's not having it.
N.Wood
Its not over filled is it?As you probably know, they're an open system so they have a small hole in the top cap which can make it seem like its leaking but its just pushing excess fluid out.If thats not it, new seal kit?! Lawnmowerman
Nope it's not leaking out of the breather hole it's coming out of the back of the resevoir cap. I've ordered a new diaphram but I'm not sure it's gonna work.
N.Wood
Bummer... Hope you get it fixed dude!
Captain Scarlet
If it still occurs, give Hope a call, as they apparently take anything like this back to be fixed for a small charge.
megaspin
Hey.I had the same problem with my Hope Mono.I found if you squished the brake lever a bit hard, it would oose brake blood out of the little keyhole/breather hole in the resevoir cap.For a temp fix:1) Level out the lever, so when you take the cap off, you don't spill hydraulic fluid.2) Then chop up a thin wall innertube in to a small fix-it strip. 3) Place the old gasket back on and postion your fix-it strip where the hole was.4) Put the cap back on. The extra bit of rubber should creat a seal that stops the brake from leaking.5,ish) This only really works as a temp fix, your best bet is to take it into a shop and get them to replace seal and cap. Or send it back to Hope, but that means a few days without a brake. Uh oh.All the best.Jon Edited December 14, 2007 by megaspin
Lawnmowerman
I sorted it a few days ago, the resevoir diaphram was distorted and worn. I replaced it and bled it and now it's mint.
