Hey guys, my computer's current spec is:

- Pentium 4 3.4GHz Processor (2 CPUs)

- 2046MB RAM (2x1GB)

- GeForce 7800GTX (256MB)

Seeing as Christmas is coming up I'm going to spend some cash on her. Thing is I want to be able to play Crysis at maximum settings on 1900x1200 resolution. I know for a fact that this spec won't be able to cope with that so my question is, what do I need?

Cheers.

At least

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB)

EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Superclocked GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) (x2 if you really want full settings, this game is so demanding words can't describe)

If you want to run it on full...

You'd probably want to wait till next year when the new nVidea cards come out (something like the 9800GTX), and the faster Intel Quadcore processors are released. As unless you can afford this, you wont be anywhere near full settings...

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Leadtek GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

And 4Gb of RAM and Vista for DX10 support...

Alright, so I could manage it with the following?

- GeForce 8800 GT 512MB x2

- 4GB RAM

- Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz

Or can I run my current spec plus the items below:

- Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz

- GeForce 8800 GT 512MB x1

- Another 2GB RAM (2x1GB maybe)

So basically run two graphics cards, one being the 7800GTX and the other being the 8800GT? Obviously plus the processor (or replacing the old one with the Core 2 Duo) and more RAM.

Cheers bud.

No point in Quad Core. Too much money and it'll be completely useless to 90% of users.

Core 2 Duo and overclock it; even the low end Core 2 Duo's and reach really high end processors with a bit of cooling.

So you suggest sticking with my current spec besides upgrading to the Core 2 Duo and overclocking my 7800GTX?

The 7800gtx won't cut it playing crysis at full at 1900x1200. In fact, there are very few cards that can do that and the majority have to lower the settings in order to play at a resolution that high. If you buy an e2180 and overclock it to 3.0ghz it runs a bit faster than an e6850 at stock speeds.

4gb of ram WILL help with crysis as the textures are huge.

I'd also be inclined to say that a 768mb 8800gtx would be better than an 8800gt because theres more memory for the large textures.

You on XP or Vista?

As if you on XP didn't think it could handle 4gb of ram, only 3 and if your on DDR2 3 would be usless?

And also instead of buying the 8800gtx would be better of waiting till the new nivda cards thats are coming out soon, thinks its January time don't quote me on that though. Even then you would need to SLI them up to get it out.
