JonMack
Yo.I know you can do it the other way round, filing down an RB lever to fit in a pre-05 lever body, but would it be possible to file down a pre 05 lever body to fit in the RB lever body? So you cut off the lever mount and the bar clamp, then put it in the RB lever body, and clamp it in.It's cos I've just bought an RB lever, and was wondering if it ended up leaking on a ride, could I just carry a spare filed down cylinder with me to save having to take off my foam grips and replace the whole lever. Guest
ok just re-read what you asked, you want to remove/filedown the cylinder from a pre 05 model so if need be all you need to do is remove the lever, pull out the broken cylinder, and replace with the pre 05 type?I've been running an rb lever for well over a year now, it's fine as they do take a beating without breaking i've gone through my fair share of maggy lever's. It does leak, but it's simply a case of keeping on top of it and bleeding every so often. I'd suggest just getting some spare o-rings cos that seems to be the biggest problem.i'd ring tarty and see if they have anything suitable. Also, clean it out. Take the whole rb lever apart, get into the cylinder and clean it nice and shiny(don't use anything abrasive, you don't want to remove any metal just dirt) and make sure your spring's are working right returning the cylinder.sorry if im totally off the mark, im not 100% sure what your getting at. dave85
You'd have to be good with a file and have some patience to file it round with a lip to fit the RB clamp. As another fix, I've machined out a RB cylinder to take a magura piston with good results.

Yeah pretty much. That's cool it's just I've heard all these stories about them leaking and stuff and I just didn't want to get caught out, but I've got 10 spare seals and a spare plastic piston with seals on it too which is cool, and a spare tpa too.Yeah I took it apart today but I'll be sure to clean it out, I was going to speak to my dad about maybe polishing it, inside and out, so I might do that after christmas when we're having some shitty weather. Thanks though man. You'd have to be good with a file and have some patience to file it round with a lip to fit the RB clamp. As another fix, I've machined out a RB cylinder to take a magura piston with good results.Yeah thats what I was thinking. That would be even better. What's the difference in piston size anyway? Is there any or is the extra power i've read about purely generated from the lever length?Cheers for the help
