Hey guys, Having abit of trouble with my msn. I go to add a contact, and the message says.

This contact cannot be added because you have exceeded the maximum number of Windows Live messanger contacts. To add this contact, please remove a contact from your list.

So i removed about 100 contacts ?

I go back to this contact and the same message is there ?

Does anyone have over 1000 contacts and can still add people :S

Cheers Ben

1000 contacts?

That's the most retarded thing i've ever heard.

I bet your one of those annoying f**kers that just adds anyone then doesn't even talk to them.

Just delete the 900 people you don't talk to and you'll be fine, hell, if you can delete 100 without even properly looking through the list...

O F**K !

Your MSN Messenger contact list can hold up to 600 people (online as well as offline). When you reach that limit you can add more people by allowing them to add you to their list, but you won't have a clue or get alerts when they're online unless they start talking to you. And you can only initiate a chat with them by chosing Actions from the pulldown menu, then Send an Instant Message, clicking the Other tab and finally entering their exact email address.

Microsoft has put a limit to contact lists because they're stored on their servers, unlike buddy lists in ICQ for example. The big advantage is you can access your contact lists wherever you log into MSN Messenger.

To save a new thread - I've just got a new laptop, runs Vista (not replied in the other thread but it's fine and with enough RAM, better than XP from a user point of view at least) and I'm looking to get a nice MSN client for it that uses as little memory as possible, and that I can customise slightly to fit in with the general theme of things.

Currently running WLM 8.5, and it fits pretty nicey and doesn't use up much in the ay of resources.

Pidgin used over twice the amount, so that's out (WLM is using about 12,000kb according to task manager)

All suggestions welcome. The smaller the better :P
