What Car For A Journey To France And Back?

Hello everyone.

A few friends and I are going to france over the new year and are looking to get a people carrier (7/8 person seating) for around £500 to get us there and back. I was thinking along the lines of a toyota previa or something but if anyone has something to suggest I'd really appreciate it! The idea is that we will use the car, and sell it on return to potentially remove the cost of travelling. Any marques considered but it basically has to be reliable, economical, confortable... er ok might be asking a little much!

Thanks everyone.

James

hire a car?

to be honest, unless you find a car with full service history your not going to know how reiable it will be.

its well enough saying that a peugeot 306 is reilable, because they generally are, but if the one you've bought hasn't had a cambelt change when it was due, you may well be fooked.

going riding in france is it?

That costs money though. Buying summat then selling it on is basically a free hire. It's a well good way to do it, we bought a LDV mini bus for a road trip to the alps and then sold it for £75 less than we bought it.

agreed, its cheaper overall, but you wont get a super reliable people carrier for 500 smackers

Well id go for a minibus to be honest. Are you taking alot of luggage too or not? because if you are then id DEFINITLY go for a minibus. Also dont forget about licenses. Whats the maximum you're allowed to drive on a normal license? Worth looking into

But in all honesty, its just like any car, you can get a damn good and reliable car for £170 (like will arnold managed haha) or pay £1000 for one which blows a gasket in a week.

For koxx days I use my loving skoda cos its beauty! That can take 4 people and 4 mods inside the car and then theres room outside too. Maybe a toyota townace or hiace or similar?
