weebryan
i think the england team have no passion. Its all about winning and the money. if you asked any of the england players to play and not get payed would they just play for Pride?I think we dont really care to much win/loose, wins a plus but we are just there to play for the country and try make us proud!!! Billy
I personally couldn't care less whether England got through or not, I'm really not a bit fan of football. What I don't understand though, is why it was Steve Mclarens fault? It wasn't him playing the game was it?

What I don't understand though, is why it was Steve Mclarens fault? It wasn't him playing the game was it?He chooses who plays (didn't choose an experienced side who had played well/long enough together), he chooses tactics(which were poor), the formations (which didn't work with the players he ad), he managed the team(or tried to), yes the players are the ones playing the game, but they can only play with what they are given.....He should have chosen a more experienced team who had at least played together a little more than the newer upcoming players who don't know how the other plays operate properly!I love football, as a sport, but I hate what it has become at the top level!!I would much rather go watch Bradford City play Chester in a league 2 game, than Man United play Arsenal in the Premiership cos its a different game. The players actually play for the sake of playing, not just cos they get £100,000 per week and play for the money! Its the same with England, the players don't play for the sake of the game anymore, they play cos they are paid to do it and want to keep earning their millions, the sport and the money that goes with it needs a major re-think!!!!Just my 2-wordsFrooty

Fishy
Never liked football, although it is a shame that England didn't get through. It would have been another excuse to get drunk for each game, but oh well.

James
I think people need to stop using the 'diving' as such a huge excuse as to why they think football is so 'shit'. Yes Ronaldo does it occasionally but it doesnt happen all that often. If you dont like football, fair enough, but atleast come up with something better than, 'I'ts fcukin shit becuase the players dive'... not convinced im afraid. Its an opinion stop getting so annoyed. For example don't like skateboarding because of the noise of the wheels on 'street' ground and because whenever i watch it they always land with the board upside down and are like 'damn i nearly made it'
Gavyn.
Nope. That's an opinion. I personally don't mind having a kickabout and I don't even mind watching the odd game but I can't stand all the cr@p that goes with it, namely the 'fans'. It pisses me off so much when people say 'we should've won'- no, YOU didn't do a damn thing apart from probably get wasted watching and maybe trying to start a fight with the other side. The majority of the players are also a joke with their diving etc and are over paid by such a stupid amount it's not even funny. All in all, I agree with Krisboats.By saying we you are reffering to the team (or in this case the nation) you support and without supporters there would be no football it would have simply died out. So it has everything to do with YOU.Also I don't think you understand what fighting at football is all about, It's very well organised, you'll never even know about 9/10 of it. it rarely happens at the actual pitch because it's too well policed. usually it's in disused industial areas where there are no innocent bystanders to get hurt. you might get the occasional punch up in a pub but you'll very rarely see real firms fighting in pubs unless something big goes off. however people like the italians and the brazilians take it too far with guns and stuff. If you dont like football, fair enough, but atleast come up with something better than, 'I'ts fcukin shit becuase the players dive'... not convinced im afraid.Theres a fair few players who like to make a big song and dance about nothing. There was a match the other week with the goalkeeper getting hit in the face by a fan who ran across the pitch and tapped him round the face/neck... the keeper turned round, came to some sort of realization (probably that he'd get money for a story or could sue him for GBH), then proceeded to throw himself on the floor as if the guy hitting him had done it, there were medics called over and everything. Its that exact kind of mentality of trying to get away with receiving a minor hit and making such a big deal out of it when they could easily continue playing. I'm not trying to do the whole rugby vs football matcho comparison here but there was a rugby match on tv the other night and a player jogged to the side of the pitch to a medic and you could see the medic grab his finger and try and put it back in the socket. I didn't see him lying on the floor, i didn't see him complaining to the ref and he never got stretchered off... its just a completely different mindset, and thats something thats earned football a reputation with a lot of people who think they're just a bunch of over payed pansies who run around and throw themselves on the floor at any given opportunity*. I'm not up for the whole rugby vs football debate either, rugby matches generally hold my interest for longer than football ones (although a lot of the time it still isn't till the end of the match) but i'm not a die-hard rugby fan myself.*I'm not stating that as being factual, or even my opinion (which you missed earlier in the thread and made a big deal of), its just common knowledge that its the way football is seen by a certain percentage of people.
