Andrex
I've now come to the stage in trials where im loosing my enthusiasm. I'm only riding by myself because most of the local riders near me have giving it in and sold up. I've been told to sell up as well, but if i didn't do trials then what would I be doing. I just don't know what to do now, keep going out on my own, or just wait for the occasional day when there is someone around to ride with. What should I do? Token
You should come to a EBTC competition. Competing is a good way to get your enthusiasm back. They're always a good laugh too.

omgnoseat
Try a new style of trials, try putting in spins and little technical moves in your linesTrying to be as smooth as possible can also be fun

Andrex
Frame change? or move from stock to mod that can help toWell I've just recently changed my frame but I just haven't really ridden it much. I might come along to a comp soon and watch, just to see what its all about. But I still don't know what to do in between the dates of each comp. Should I just keep going out on my own? or keep paying to travel to places?
Dan_Trials
I find riding natural is not as bad as riding street on my own. Getting that enthousiasm to ride can be quite hard sometimes, I watch videos of riders that inspire me and listen to music that gets me itching to ride. However sometimes I think that having a break from doing something makes you 'hungry' to do it after a while and so you beast everything next time. Andrex
bummer, you wil probably meet guys at the comp that might live close, take your bike with you because after the comp you might be able to try out the sections too,I was going to try that anyway at a comp in Thriftwood. Hopefully new riders will appear soon because on your own you can't really socialize or compete, and i worry sometimes in case i fall off and hurt myself badly I might not be able to get help. I won't sell my bike though. I watch videos a lot of the time and that makes me want to ride but when it comes around to it I've just got nobody to ride with. Greetings
Going through exactly the same thing. Got a nice bike hoping it would make me want to ride but I haven't ridden it properly for months. What Meteor suggested is a good idea. Try a different style, lines, spins, manuals etc.Don't try going bigger, have fun on small walls and try doing things you've never done before. It's much easier than you might think.Learn to switchfoot maybe? It's like learning trials all over again
mehukatti
Maybe ride some other dicipline for a while, and then come back to trials. Like BMX, MTB street, Freeride, DH, or even road cycling!
Dave Anscombe
yeah i lost intrest in riding trials...so got me a bmx ride that most of the time now....but when i get back on a trials bike its so much fun.....i dont ride with many people either.. in the same boat as your selfit sucks i knowdave
Alex Dark
Trying a different type of riding is definitely a good idea.....maybe Street, Downhill etc
PaRtZ
I reckon you should make a big effort to go on the next big group ride somewhere else. I have so much fun meeting new people and just comparing methods and techniques and generally just talking shit hehehe Its damn annoying i've met "the phase" a couple of times in trials but not as bad as what you're experiancing. If you persevere I found mine just went away normally and I was back on the bike soon enoughAlso maybe try convincing some younger kids to take it up? that way you can teach them, ride with them and they wont get as bored quickly as an older person who will always think they'll never be as good as you.... manuel
I guess it depends a lot on what sort of riding you are into really ? its hard to be a t.h.u.g. on your own ...I would suggest - music (if you dont allready). Ive ridden on my own pretty much since day 1 - yeah sometimes its hard but like you say what else would you do ? miss it id think.whack some tunes on and ride to the music. dont go bigger - go better (and bigger will come).oh and yeah - every now and again go on a group ride and socialize. Andrex
Well in my riding I've tried changing to go bigger, but by the sounds of it, it's not they way to go lol. I bought a downhill bike again a few weeks ago, but i got bored of that and sold it already because i weren't really going to any tracks or doing any races. I can't really do any other kind of hobby because I known i can do trials and that is my hobby, I just want to stick with what I'm good at really. I'll try and start making effort to ride new places with new people, and maybe the enthusiasm will come back to me again.
