Shaving?

Synergy

ok i work in halfords and have had two official warnings for not shaving one more and im fired.

are they ablet o do that for not shaving? i know you can say im growing a beard but its mainly large stubble like towler at scotland wishes he could grow.

I guess they could have a go about general appearance if you just look rough all the time or something but a bit of stubble shouldn't be a problem, it isn't where I work, I can have a shaved head and a massive beard if i want to :)

Surely you have to do whatever your contractually abliged to do. If in your contract it doesnt mention 'must be clean shaven at all times' then you have grounds to argue your warning, but if it does then they have every right. I got a warning when I worked at Waitrose becuase my hair was too spiky, my 'area manager' told me to go flatten it down (this was on my birthday mind), so I went upstairs and handed in my notice! God I love my new job.

I'll bet they'll have something saying you 'must be smartly presented at all times' or similar. Which is of course entirely subjective. Obviously I don't know you synergy, but most young people with stubble look stupid, so I'm not surprised your boss wants you to change it.

There is no way they can legaly do that!

You could take them to court for dismissing you on those grounds.

idiots.

If you read your contract it states that a beard may be grown if trimmed and agreed by your manager. you could argue it!! :)

so the manager has to trim the beard? I kid. Obviously he doesn't agree with it, so there is no argument. Just a warning if you don't do as he says.

Unfortunately they can do that.

You signed a bit of paper saying you must present yourself in a clean and tidy manner. This counts as the tidy bit.

Man, sucks to work there.

I've never worn anything but skate shoes to work, the worst i get if i dont get a chance to shave for a few days in the depudy manager telling me i look a tit and laughing at me.

Today sucked at work, what with our tills crashing multiple times, collections and reservations not working all day and not being able to take cards most of the day! Gotta love evolve, why did they ever decide to use windows.

Woo.. just got a second job working for my college though, helping out the automotive students with there practical work. 8.50 an hour! bit better than halfords. Still staying at halfords for the holidays though, and just the fact its a laugh.
