Fable - The Old Game

Ahoy there,

Reading the xbox vs ps3 thread, found fable mentioned; obviously not this game I'm about to explain, but I wanted to ask something.

Right, Fable, it came out on the PC in around 1995-6...I've found a few screen shots if any of the (older) member remember it? It won lots of awards and was a pretty well established game...

Jog any memories? Question is; the game play is a little like Broken Sword...a lot of finding peices of stuff in the streets etc. You get the idea? Does anyone know of any games which are like this? It seems to be a bit of a dying genre?

Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire 3 aren't point and click adventures.

I guess it's a bit of a dying genre because it doesn't have enough explosions/killing people.

There are newer generation version of Broken Sword for the PS2, but they kind of suck as far as I know. The Monkey Island series of games was alot like this, but there are no new games i know about that are point and click based. Maybe Hotel Dusk for the DS? I think that might be the fix you are looking for.

i just about remember both games i think, although the pc version was more seeing my mate play it. a lot of people are gettin confused between the fable of the early 00's an rpg and this one i think. fable 2 is the new rpg one

as for similar games to the ones u mentioned,

broken sword series.

grim fandango

little big adventure was similar thing, but more pseudo 3d, keyboard controlled.

the monkey island games(curse of, escape from)

myst is vagually similar, although more 3d and less cartoony, more exploration)

riven is like myst
