I've got nothing bad to say about it!

I'm interested in both photography and a little bit of web design, and I like it :P

There's a company near where I live that offers a similar service, but with moving pictures...

http://www.highmastvideo.com/

He makes megga bucks, I know, and his site is quite possibly the worst I've ever seen.

lol much more helpful! cheers for your input, im receiving really mixed views about this site. Its very interesting.

I did do some research (on a previous reply) and came up with the conclusion not to go with a purely image based site. There are other sited that do it, but i find (as its not artist photography) they get boring. As it is now, it does kinda work, in the way that you want more. Incites interest but doesn't bore the viewer with the same sort of images. (but that could just be me and my short attention span haha)

Also, with regards to the ecological bandwagon, its pumped up with a powerful hand pump ;) (does the bike tyres faster than any electric pump!)

again cheers for your advice!

Fair enough on the handpump, Wasnt expecting that!

As for your attention span, I assure you mine is far less, I so often look at sites and if they dont make a positive impact within 5 seconds I'll close them, This after 1 or 2 clicks was what happened with yours on the first visit.

Unfortunatly the majority of people using/commenting on websites on the net which arn't involved in design dont know what theyre talking about. Myspace is the biggest example of what happens when you give everyone the power to "design" or at least change appearance, 99% of myspace pages are unreadable and as a result, pointless.

I definitely agree with Simon and kinda agree with Bren.

You need to really highlight your pics and at the moment I think the site looks cheap and is way too complex for it's requirements. You need a basic layout with good quality photos and well presented (and navigated) information pages.

At the momnent you're over complicating it and you really don't need flash - at all.

If you want give me a shout on MSN or something - I really like your idea it's just poorly executed. I think to make it work out long term you need to get some kind of branding and logo going on with the site which is easily identifiable, also put it on anything you put up for your photos at events / whatever with the website address and leaflets to hand out at the bottom of it for people who are interested or something.

Just an idea anyway :)

Thanks Nick, i know what your saying, and i think your right, i may start drawing up some plans for a new site, one thats a bit more image based.

we currently brand our leaflets, images and marketing material quite heavily, with name, website, phone number and our logo. We use our logo Allot! but we tried to keep it in the background of the website and not soo much in your face, as it is in your marketing material. (if you go into any estate agent in the bournemouth, poole, sailsbury, newforest area and show them the logo they would prob going to be able to tell you its us haha, logos attached)

I took a look at your site, i liked it, it was very clean. Are you taking on clients at the moment? if so could you drop me an email at mitch@icanseetheworld.co.uk would like to see what you could maybe do for us.

Thanks for you help

*p.s: logos gif, its not just a black smudge haha, click to enlarge and it looks ok*

The website didn't really work well in my OS X 10.3.9 version of Safari. The were problems with get flash links appearing behind the website but still being able to click on them and I couldn't scroll backwards. To me it seems like it's flash being the problem, also I hate flash websites with a FIERY PASSION UNQUENCHABLE BY ANY MORTAL FlASH WEBSITE DESIGNER. As a concept it seems like an awesome idea but I don't know too much about photography so...GO YOU.

Looking good!

Being anti-flash I prefer this, even if the other one was more visually pleasing.

The only bits I would comment on:

The homepage yellow box - I think maybe a light grey would look better? The yellow just doesn't seem to fit with the theme - perhaps make it the colour of the thick background bar near the top?

Nice touch having different background images - makes you sure that you've loaded a new page - good.

I would remove the bird from the homepage background image, as it's kind of grainy - I think it would look good either trimmed so it's pure black or just removed (My opinion of course).

Other than that mate, 200 times better than the last (Like I say I'm biased as I'm anti-flash :) )

Thanks mate for the nice feedback, very much apperciated. One thing, what do you mean by yellow boxes? lol

just a note, but as we've learnt in college, annoyingly often people have to design into the site corrections that allow it to work with different browsers. E.g, the spacing from the left on i think the safari browser is larger than on IE...

yes thats right, safari and opera has parger parts than IE. firefox is inbetween to my (limited) knowlege. Its a css overlay controling the position in percentage not parts, so hopefully the divs will resize on different screen resoultions as well as browsers and always be central. But if you find a problem let me know ;)

Major problems with the popup links in the portfolio man.

When I click them, it just comes up with a blue question mark, so then i close it, open it again, and it opens the image, but then the box to close it kinda flashes and comes up twice. Very weird. Look into the code for that I think there is a major error somewhere.

Also this is pretty messy,

      <a href="images/lightbox/1.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/1.jpg" alt="" /></a>
          <a href="images/lightbox/2.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/2.jpg" alt="" /></a>

              <a href="images/lightbox/3.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/3.jpg" alt="" /></a>
                  <a href="images/lightbox/4.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/4.jpg" alt="" /></a>

                      <a href="images/lightbox/5.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/5.jpg" alt="" /></a>
                          <a href="images/lightbox/6.JPG" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/6.JPG" alt="" /></a>
I'd be more inclined to do it like this

            <a href="images/lightbox/1.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/1.jpg" alt="" /></a>
            <a href="images/lightbox/2.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/2.jpg" alt="" /></a>
            <a href="images/lightbox/3.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/3.jpg" alt="" /></a>
            <a href="images/lightbox/4.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/4.jpg" alt="" /></a>
            <a href="images/lightbox/5.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/5.jpg" alt="" /></a>
            <a href="images/lightbox/6.JPG" rel="lightbox" title="I Can See The World "><img src="images/thumbs/6.JPG" alt="" /></a>
The other way is just untidy really. Also the background isn't long enough to cover the whole page on my screen, it's also not fixed. Try
body {
    background-image: url('images/page_bg.jpg');
    background-repeat: repeat-x;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    text-align: center;
    font: 11px verdana, arial, sans-serif;
    color: #74653D;
    padding-bottom: 10px;
    padding-top: 31px;
}

Rather than the way you had it, because when you scroll with mine, the bg moves.

Messy.

I'd also get rid of the underline over the nav links, the colour change is enough. Also you should probably vector that bird, with it being a bitmap image it looks awfully scruffy when it's scaled down like that.

Another problem is on the contacting us box the text is hard to read because of the clipboard thing with your logo on. I'd say take the image out the background, would look a lot more professional.

Apart from that, it's looking good! I really like what you've done to it, it just needs a few tweaks to make it that little bit more professional looking.

EDIT: Just replaced that css code, your a god amoung men! hahaha

I use safari.

I just realised I f**ked up the code, try this

body {
    background-image: url('images/page_bg.jpg');
    background-repeat: repeat-x;
    background-attachment:fixed;
    background-position:bottom;
    text-align: center;
    font: 11px verdana, arial, sans-serif;
    color: #74653D;
    padding-bottom: 10px;
    padding-top: 31px;
}

That should sort out the problems that i'm having (the image isnt long enough for my screen)

cheers for that jon.

Is anyone having troubles with the picture on the branches page?

Mitch

I can't select anything on the map to see who my local contact is? It just seems to be an image at the moment.

Also, really like the new site. Some of the photos in the portfolio look ace and I like the idea of using HDR for the photos.
