Discs And Magges

I was talking to some man on the train and he asked me why i have a disc on the front and a magge on the back. All i could think of was its better looking and that the magge was a better front. So id like to know why you run a disc and if you run 2win disc let me know why?

I run the somae configuration as you for a few reasons .

the first being that i have to ride down quite alot of hills and i have consideratrion for people so id rather have a silent front break .

the second beign that disks proform alot better in wet condtions so id still have one working brake .

the third is i like the feel of a rear magura theres alot less efort in a magura than saya v brake .

the forth is hub compatabilty , i love my profile alot even when i quit im keeping my profile to give to my son its that good and because of that i cant run rear disk .

well there are my reasons just to let you know these are my brake setups .

20"

rear echo cnc rimbrake ( water bled )

pads are echo whites but normaly plaz or koxx

adamant cnc clamps

front avid bb7 185 rotor

clarks teflon cable

tetrko xtr copy lever

26"

rear magura hs33 2005 (water bled)

original zoo pads

viz cnc clamps

front avid bb5 185 tetrko rotor

clarks elite teflon cable

avid sinlge digit lever .

hope thats helped .

There are loads of threads on this dual disc debate - so have a search and you'll find lots of opinions.

A lot of people don't like rear discs because they've never had one - how can you form an opinion of something you've never tried? Generally from what I've seen, once you go rear disc, you don't go back :)

I love the lock, I love the modulation, I love the reliability, I love the lack of noise, I love the wet weather riding, I love the buckled wheels, I love my rear disc!

Anyone is welcome to come and try my bike out, and I've not had a single disappointed rider yet.

I'd love to give it a go. The bikes with rear disc I've tried have not been very nice at all. I'm very picky with my bike, and I can't stand much play or flex.

Also, isn't it easy to mash the disc when sidehopping to the left?

You'd be surprised how difficult it is to hit a disc sidehopping. I've never managed it!
