Hs33 + Water + Anit-freeze=sticky Pistons

N Roach

Recommended Posts

hey,

Since putting anti-freeze into my magura, It has become very sluggish on the lever. I am thinking to just have a plain water bleed as I had no problems before. I have tried using a pump to clear out the internals of the brake but still sluggish. Anyone had this problem before and managed to sort it? Or any good tricks to free up the pistons? Greece, GT85 etc.

Nathan

Clean the cylinders then squirt, it'll be fine.

As for the lever I take the hose and grub screw out, poke the piston out of the lever body with a spoke (through the hole where the grub screw was) clean everything with water and a lot of kitchen towel. Then stretch the old spring, douse the 'plunger'/piston and lever in lubricant replace spring and poke in plunger. Reassemble lever with hose and blade then bleed. That's what I do anyway.

Oh and I dont use anti-freeze with my water bleed (never really gets cold enough to freeze down here).

Because you have put antifreze in your brake the antifreze will foam up inside the brake thats allways what happend to em so i jsut use water now .

wouldnt you need air in the system for it to foam up? never happend in past 2 years iv been running anti freeze and water
