grantham
Well theres good and bad points, there are 4 proposed rounds as follows July 26/27th : Spain (Burgos) August 02/03rd : France (La Tour de Scay) August 09/10th : Italy (Milan area) August 23/24th : Japan (Itadori) should be a nice long road trip, but those that were at the worlds this year will know about the proposals for next year to merge catagories the 26" classes will disappear and everyone (20"and 26") will ride in the same class. Prepare to que for hours! lol all are just proposals at the moment, I hope the merge of classes doesn't happen.Full article HEREWhat do you all think? If this is just so that they introduce the single speed, then just introduce the single speed. I can't see anyone benefiting from it. The BIU suffered last year and if thjey go ahead with these proposals then i can see it going further down the pan.
NSE
I don't agree with the proposed changes. There are specialists on both wheel sizes where will that leave them? I doubt very much if the industry will view the changes favorably. The format as it stands works.I for one would not want to run competitions to the proposed rules, I prefer the current ones.Fred
T.McMillan
its a joke combining 20 and 26, somebody can they make a petition against it,
Will Arnold
if this does go ahead, i can see alot more people turning to 20" wheeled bikes! although it does open up the possibility of riding a 24" bike.singlespeed *** though! Bionic Balls
well...that's pretty surprising!but then....it's been like that in lots of clubs already? what a stupid colour font anyways.
DangerousDave
I don't think it's a big deal. Most of North America has already done this and other events such as Koxx Days are doing it as well. With the new style of riding that's going on there isn't really much of a difference between mod and stock. The pros and cons of riding each bike balance each other out, so why not just leave it up to who is the best rider.
Mr Rankin
UCI is getting more and more tempting!
weebryan
I overheard one of the officials at the fort william champs for trials to be in the olympics it would have to have one set of rules and biu and uci would merge and may also mergre 20/26 classesthis could be a transition in to this? Hope so i would like to see trials in the olympics
grantham
The only good I can see from it is that you would know who is the overall number one i guess, but anyones who has been to the worlds would know that the 20" sections are usually crazy buzy with people trying to push in all over the place, add the 26" in to that as well it will be bad, I'd be intrested to see what there plans are for starting? maybe UCI style? If the merge does happen I can see alot of people changing to UCI which is a shame as the BIU worlds have a nice feeling to them especially when your away for a few weeks together. Like Fred said the current rules work well, just scrap the gear rules.

NSE
The comments below, made in a previous post may have been overlooked; The Biketrial Federations schedule for 2008 will be decided at our Annual meeting, late November. There will be important changes, and some goals. For 2008 2 series will be run;UCI rules series, recognised by British Cycling.B.C. will use the results to select the UCI World Championship team. The final name for the series is yet to be decided. Younger riders as well as the older ones will be catered for, with classes running in step with the Youth games and UCI World championships. The series results will not be applied to World Cup events, only the Worlds.A “BIU” rules series, similar to this year. The main aim for 08 is to utilise venues spread wider around the U.K.Expect a news post.I suppose it was inevitable that the running of the 07 Championships in the U.K. (coupled with interest in the cup series from U.K. riders), would result in increased attention in UCI events. If the BIU implement these obviously unpopular proposals I can see attendance at their WBC falling. Grantham is 100% correct in his comments - the social side of the BIU has been good in the past and will be missed if it falls apart.I for one would not support the adoption of the proposed rules for a National series that I was involved in - hope you get my point.Fred.
