who,me?
Hi guys,My bottom bracket is making a horrible clicking sound, theres NO play in the bb atall, just the clicking when putting pressure on the pedals...Its a Travativ isis Giga pipe DH. Is there any way to fix this or does is simply mean my bearings are shot??Would appreciate suggestions...Chris
Dave Lowe
99 % of the time you will find this is because the taper or spline is dirty. You just need to remove the cranks from the BB and clean up the axle & cranks and refit them, it’s the best thing to try first anyway. scousertrials
If you have a pro 2 hub check that cos mine fails about once a month and have to replace the two slimline bearings in the free hub.
abtrials
also check for cracks around the frame mate, the exact same thing has happened to me before it turned out to be the frame??? hope not though
who,me?
Ok i whipped the bb out after trying Dave's suggestion (bit cheeky though, done it with molegrips ) but before i even cleaned the splines etc I span the spindle and its as rough as hell...Its funny isnt it, how the momentum of the cranks makes everything seem to run oh so smooth in there?!As soon as the cranks were off it was pretty obvious what the problem was. Theres a whole lotta grinding in there...Anyway, thanks for your help guys, much appreciated, new bb it is!!If it still cracks then, well, new frame...DOH. I've checked it all over pretty well though and it all looks pretty mint...so fingers crossed!Chris Edited November 1, 2007 by who,me? T.McMillan
when my try all bb started to click, i could tell it was the bearings, and after a few eeks it started to make door creaking noises, and i took it out the earings were ground to dust, check n clean
