Trials: Not Really The Height Of Fashion Is It!

I was just looking through some vids and trials itself is anything but a "gotta look good" style of riding, its very much more about practicality...

Infact the only time fashion comes into trials is when it gets a little more streety it seems...

Or when the tart in each of us comes out and tells everyone what is best because it looks best...

What do you wear to ride? Just curious to see whether or not the jumpsuit of the early 90's are still kicking about :D

me personally for any street its converse (theyre flat), jeans (good protection) and a hoodie (for warmth)

Too true mate, all this "Trackie" trouser malarki is OTT and thus some people link that to chavs etc.

I wear (if its warm enough) kona bike shorts, a T shirt or polo, doesnt matter which really, Tryall shoes as they good for trials, maybe a jumper or small jacket if its cold and ofcourse gloves and helmet.

used to wear my nice tight topman skinnys, but there pretty expensive and kind of restricting! So i must say i have recently taken to wearing adidas trackys, its the only time i wear them though jeans ***.

normally some topman shirt and hoody, dont think i look to bad when i ride, maybe a tad chavvy. But to be honest i dont really care what people think of how i dress i dress how i like. and i mean they should look at my riding not my clothes :P

baggy jeans, t-shirt, skate shoes.

Yup, never anything else for me.

Martyn Ashton had a rant about this in MBUK a few months back - saying basically that if trials ever wants to be cool, then people need to change their look. You'd never catch a BMXer in Adidas trackies and pixie boots, and look which sport is 'cooler'.

warm weather: shorts and t-shirts, cold weather: jeans and hoody, i wear either my try all shoes or skate shoes, occasionally wear trackies because there so light and comfy they keep you warm but dont overheat you

in comps i wear my try all shoes and trackies and norm a t shirt

never forgetting helmet,

most of the time depends on what clothes are clean, or easy to get at the time i dont normaly worry to much, just norm want to get out and ride

I don't know how people can ride in jeans. Maybe it just me, I tend to sweat a lot when i ride. I use to ride in jeans, my legs ended up wet.

Warm weather.

Shorts, thin tee.

on the cooler days.

Trackie bottoms, thicker tee.

Shoes! ALWAYS wear the good old DC Era's as seen in ALL my vids, BEST shoes by far. 4 years and still going strong! I cant ride with a hoody/jacket on either. its a tee or nothing!

i never wear trackies. god no. most of the time its either, jeans, tee, hoody. orrr.cargo shorts, shinnies, tee, jumper if cold, shinnies are great as you can wear shorts cos they dont restrict your movement. and if its cold you put on your shinneis and you get protection and warmth!!!! .

and of course the helmet, as always

I thought what he actually said was that everyone should have fun and ride in whatever they liked - he didn't want to discourage people from riding of course. But what he said originally still stands - people looking gimpy don't do the sport any good.

It's all tied in with this inch-pinching thing that everyone has been up to. If tracksuit trousers help you get that extra few mm on a sidehop then people will think they're a good thing, no matter how stupid they look.

When im out riding, i generally wear trackies in the winter, because the jeans ive got are either way too baggy, or way too tight to ride in, and trackies are warm in the winter :)

If im only only going out for half hour or so, ill wear jeans, any other times its trackies or shorts, or my riding trousers.

We ride around on bikes with no seats, noisy brakes, and generally crap paint/stickers jobs- we're never going to look that cool!

But who really cares!

I have to give you my idea of the ideal trials look!

Simple attire, is the best way to make trials seem attracitive

Top Half: T-shirt/jacket/maybe a shirt if you want to look sexy(jokes)

Bottom Half: Jeans/shorts/Spandex (if you want to be cool, and old school!) But No Ned clothing, we dont want to be knownen as the Ned group in the Mountain biking world!

Shoe: Skate shoes!

This is my advice to good attire that will help Trials looking sleek and sexy!!!
