The Duck
It is well worth grinding your rim for the performance, but if you really dont want to, try Zoo pads. Tarty sell them for £15 and they're your best bet for a smooth rim. Crap in the rain, as are all pads with a smooth rim.
Grant Hundley
Plaz on smooth with tar and to make them even better just give the rim a small grind.
ibi123
Stop starting the same topic over and over again we get the picture
Captain Scarlet
Any of the Deng pads (thats Echo, ZOO! and Adamant) are perfect on a decent smooth rim (ideally an Echo rim as that is what they have been tested with).Pad life is amazing, I've had a set of Echo's on a smooth rim since May and they have only worn about a millimetre.Just get yourself some tar and be careful with what rim you use (a Monty 219 wheel had the worst gripping surface for a rim ever for me). JT!
Smooth rim with tar and zoo pads or similar will give you a better hold than any grind. But they have shit modulation, and are crap in the rain etc etc.
mfereborn
any decent disc brake i hate having ground rims but you know what works amazingly well?rubbing the rim down with a heavy grained emmery tape, give just a little bit of texture, and loads more stopping power.
