Sam F
Well basically, i have already knocked 2 of my bottom teeth on the handlebars of a motorbike also nearly broke my jaw but we wont go into that. Anyway if i was to knock them again they would come out, so i was thinking of riding (when i get my bike) with a full face helmet. Do you ride with a full face helmet if so how does it feel and would you recommend it? Thanks Sam. x
Endohopper
It's almost unheard of in trials , and would be impractical as it would severely limit a rider's field of view as well as bouncing around on hard landings .
Captain Scarlet
Well I had a bad accident around 4 years ago on a bike from not wearing a helmet, and until the beginning of this year my parents saw it as essential to wear a full face helmet.I was wearing one for trials, it doesn't limit your view at all as the chin part is not in your view, I just got a bit hotter and sweatier in a full face.I managed to persuade my parents to let me have a cycle style helmet, but they always come up with the argument that I could knock my teeth out.But I think most trials bikers take the risk of knocking your teeth out like a shin dig, a shin dig can always happen but msot times the result isn't too bad (and if it is bad its not exactly life threatening just painful), so for that reason not many trials riders wear shin pads. Its the same thing why people don't think about a full face on trials.I wouldn't recommend riding with a full face helmet, look back on me doing it I look like a nob, but most people in the norm could say that wearing any helmet makes you look like a nob.If it feels right for you mate go for it. How dangerous ARE you?!Seriously though, I could never ride with one. Too heavy, too restrictive. A good BMX-type lid is a good idea. You can never totally protect yourself. Imagine going out dressed like an ice-hockey goalie... it's just not practical. Tell your parents to stop being so protective...
Conor the basher.
Hey. I cant really see anyone on this forum saying that wearing a full face helmet is really a good idear for trials, I did however see a semi full face helmet on www.chainreactioncycles.com it looks like a normal helmet but has a mouth/chin protector thing.I will try find a link now buddy Edit: http://chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=10718 Edited October 26, 2007 by koxx 20" 26" rider
steve@banbury-trials
i remember seeing a pic of a guy in mbuk a few years back doing a 6" drop in a full face lol .i wouldn't go ott with protection ,a helmet and gloves is what most riders use . have you thought of wearing a gum shield ?i've seen a few riders (bmx mostly ) with them.steve

Muel
My teeth are f**ked and so are my shins, but I will never wear a full face or shin pads, they are so uncomfertable and sweaty and annoying. And make you look like a prune. Alex Dark
I use a fulll face for dh and 4x......but never for trials!....way too restrictive and heavy
MadManMike
I know helmets aren't a fashionable item, but full face really is too far!
Shaun H
Full face helmets blow. Even on DH they restrict your view so much. Definite no no from me for use with trials.
nmt_oli
If your worried about your teeth, surely a gumguard would be the way to go?

BenLeacockâ„¢
(danny kearns doeswell he used to )pm for pics Back to a serious note, there abit heavy for trials really, plus the fact that once your riding you normaly get hotter its pritty pointless. However a gum sheild might be a better idea Edited October 26, 2007 by benleacock
mehukatti
You can get new teeth from dentist. I just got one for 2500 euros (~1700 pounds), although I didn't knock it out riding a bike. This was in Finland, dunno if its free in UK?

James Quigley
NHS ''built'' me half a tooth (half was missing, bit of filler later it looks like new.lol, cheap ass NHS. If you're teeth are that bad then surely false teeth are the way forward (just pop em out when you go ridding).
Tomm
Bongo on here had 4 teeth done, I think they cost him about a grand each. Maybe there's a discount when you buy more than one
ZeroMatt
Maybe there's a discount when you buy more than one If only there were, had loads knocked out/snapped when I was young which was sorted for free but this last year I had to get permanent ones and they cost me (read parents ) around 6k. BONGO
Bongo on here had 4 teeth done, I think they cost him about a grand each. Maybe there's a discount when you buy more than one Lol, 1k - 2k each i got quoted. I ended up not getting that done though, as the day before i went to get started with moulds etc, i f**ked the teeth i had left in another crash worse than the first. I decided to get a platinum brace (a posh, skimpy denture made of platinum so it's strong and can be really tiny), until i stopped riding, as i will and have banged my mouth/face since. If you get implanted teeth and smash them out you're in the shit, becasue the titanium stalks drilled into your jaw won't break, your jaw will. I was advised to leave them until i'm out of riding.Bongo
Sam F
See, i dont give a f**k if i get hot .. id rather use a full face helmet than have all these fake 5 grand teeth. how much can it be heavier like 2 pound heavier at the most? Simon
It's not really the weight, its the restriction plus the extra moving momentum. If for example you go for a gap, throw your body up, oooooops, now you can't see properly because the helmet as moved and the letterbox view port you have has just halved.I genuinely think for trials they are over killer and much more of a hindrance then an aid.Plus, they look shit unless you charging down a hill at 40mph through tree's 2 and a half foot apart. ManxTrialSpaz
Also, I'm willing to bet Bongo's accident was bmx related. Very few people hit their mouths in a trials crash and even less knock teeth out. Seriosuly, it's not an issue unless you have a habit of putting your mouth in front of the rest of your body when you fall. MadManMike
All you have to ask yourself is in the hundreds of trials video's you've seen, does anyone else wear them? No.Also, why are you worried about your mouth? There's plenty of injuries you can do with most sports! If you're that worried sit in a padded room
