James Quigley
okay, I've got a Netgear wireless router/4 port switchneed to connect the modem to the router via ethernet but my modem's a USB free from isp jobby. So my question is any way around the problem without the need for more hardware. Tomm
Not really. You can do this:Modem - PC - (Ethernet) - Router - Rest of networkBut that would mean that the PC with the modem would have to be switched on for any of the other computers to access the internet. You should have bought a Wireless router/adsl modem built in - Sorry. James Quigley
Tried that but the router is reluctant to work as a switch only.Oh well I'll just send it back and get one with a built in modem (they really should tell you that usb modems are crap)
