Tom3bar
Hello all,Well long story short, last week i fell and the pedal crashed into my legs, (Right leg, just beneath the knee) - 5 stitches, hurt as hell... 3-4 weeks to recovery now.I ride with 661 shin pads for a few years now, had saved me numerous time, but this time the pedal hit me just above the shin pad!SO it got me thinking about ways to avoid this injuries and their recovery time (it;s really suck a$$ not to ride for about a month)Any suggestions...?oh! - anyone knows what knee+shin guard is James Barton riding???THXTom. Adam-Griffin
Wear Knee pads aswell, if not move the shin pads up as there more chance of being hit belw the knee than above the ankle?
Scotty Evil1
If your looking for kneepads, have a look on ridetsg.com.They do quite a few different sets.I've worn knee pads for the 3 years ( a bit less now though), due to constantly killing my knee caps, and having generall knee problems. ( i have a permanant lump on my knee cap now )Scott

Tommy d
I've been using 661 4X4s (i.e. shin and knee) for the last few years, they've saved me loads. Kind of hot to ride in, especially since I wear jeans too, but I find it's worth it.

Ash-Kennard
sort the problem, buy some decent pedals and shoes

The 4x4s feel so bad now, but they worked for 2 years.Wear what makes you feel safe, whatever it is. You will ride much better.
Tommy d
buy some decent pedalsThat reminds me actually, I used to have Onza cage pedals and they made really big slices in my shins, big and deep and wide, but then I got V8s and they only make little holes! So anyone reluctant to wear pads get platform rather than cage pedals... The Velcro Fly
An obvious alternative for me would be to invest in a pair of ice hockey shin guards. They're designed to protect you from vulcanised rubber travelling at 90mph and are easy to wear too. They come in a variety of leg lengths and second hand ones are pretty easy to find.Cheap pair on Ebay

Shez.sheridan
I have pair of Dainese shinpads, a perk of the job..lol, and they are really good & have saved me re-opening old wounds many times...They are as well articulated as can be expected & protect both knee & shin - however after about 30 minutes constant riding you may have to re adjust the straps as mine seem to slide down an inch over time.http://img164.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc09955rn6.jpgExcuse the hairy legs...Derv
gilly
I use 661 4x4 knee and shin pads nowadays since i put one to many holes in my legs too! I've no complaints with them at all, they've saved my shins dozens of times already, well worth it!
