Alex Dark
Iv got an onza woodstock, tensile cranks, and an acs claw ( or similar ) freewheel.....what size bb do i need?someone told me it'd be 'close with a 113mm' then tarty Adam told me id need a 127.5mm bb...so...does anybody know what size it needs, I cant find any b/b's that big. I haven't checked on tarty ,because their sites down I've only looked on CRC, wiggle, supercycles, trialsman(does have a 128 but its £23 which i cant afford...) and select bikes (same as trialsman, does have one but its £45...)Please Help! Adam-Griffin
I'd just go for a 127.5 or will that not fit ? dont know much about BB's my self
Bionic Balls
wow! that was a long ol' time ago...i definitely needed a 128...was bloody close even with it! does depend on the thickness of your bashring and which tensiles you have- new or old?post a full description of what you've got and we'll see...most cases you WILL need a 128 with ANY front freewheel setup (unless you ride mod.)adam
Alex Dark
Well its these cranks: http://tinyurl.com/2msz92Onza woodstock frame, obvAnd i havent bought a front freewheel yet, but i was probably going to get an acs...if not something second hand around the £10-15 markThe problem is not finding one, but the price! I can get a 113/18 for £15 but all the 128s seem to be around £35+ and as i only paid £20 for the cranks cant justify spending that much on a bb...... JonMack
cant justify spending that much on a bb...... Any reason why not? I'd rather spend £35 on a BB and have a working bike than £15 on a BB and have a bike that I cant use, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet, if you buy a quality BB it will last a long time. basher
If you buy a cheap isis bottom bracket no doubt it won't last long as bearing will go i should think. Isis bbs bearing can go pritty quickly due to the axel being so big meaning small bearing. So i would just save up bit more and buy a decent bb as if you get a cheap one no doubt youll be replaceing it cost even more.
JonMack
Exactly, if you keep buying cheap BB's then you will end up spending say, £20 on a BB every 6 months, thats £80 in two years, or you could spend £40 on a BB now, that will last over 2 years, then which one is better value for money? Tomm
But John, no ISIS BB will last two years. Not if you use, it anyway.
