looking to buy a new front brake as i broke my old one and im not sure which one to go for i was looking to get either a new bb7 or a second hand hope m4 or trial for around the £50 mark. which one would I be better off with for use in trials? are the bb7 just as good as hydraulic?

cheers :D

i would go with the hope mono trial they are the best trial brakes or the avid juicys even

Well, I'm sorry but I would have to disagree with that one mate. My mate runs an Avid bb7 and I think its the best front brake that I've used in a while. It locks, theres plenty of modulation and you don't need to worry about giving it a bleed! BB7s are just as good as the hopes if not better.

well to be honest im not sure ive been on friends bikes that have a bb7 on them and they do feel nice havent had much experience with hope other than people talking about them mite go for a bb7 just woried about my forks :S

Just get a bb7 with a small rotor (160mm), just don't be an ass and get a (203mm) then wonder why the forks snap!

rotor size will make some difference, but its mainly the adapter for the rotor size, it comes out too far, causing massive amounts of leverage and hence cracks forks on the disc mount. im on my 5th pair of 07 deng forks now. just got a lousie, bit less power, but no adapter so fits straight onto the forks, hence much less stress.

EDIT: the 07 mono trials, seem to be good actually. but hes not gunna get one for 50 quid, so i assumed he meant the 06 or older versions, which were/are generally wank unless you really look after them like the tarts

it depends on what you like the feel of, bb7's feel a bit like vee's, i personally dont liek the juttery sort of feeling, i like hopes because they are smooth and more controlling and once youve set it up you wont need touch it for agggggggggggggggggggggggggggges, the people that say theyre crap just cant set them up, and the levers are more comfotable and smoother feeling and the brake will increase the pimp factor on your bike and dont look like plastic.. lol you definatly wont regret getting one

hi there my friend runs a avid bb7 and i had a mono trials i thought that the avid bb7 was the better brake because you could set it just how you wonted it and it was more powedful aswell.

kk cheers im thinkin mabie bb7 with 187mm rotor then save up for louise or hope mono trials. however ive found a hope mono m4 on ebay are these any good for trials if so ill get one!

cheers

M4's would kick arse on trials bike fo sure. i have them on my DJ bike trualy amazing brakes *(when maintained)* just ensure they are clean and bled properly you will be fine :) but yeah go for the mono trials.
